New Porsche Boxster finally caught uncamouflaged by Auto, Motor und Sport

During advertising photographs in Paris, a reader of german car magazine Auto, Motor und Sport discovered the new Boxster and photographed it from the front. Thank you Porsche AG, we like it a lot!

The sale of the new Porsche Boxster is to start in December of this year. As the photo of the front shows, these are the changes: the headlights are oval and arranged, the front hood seems flatter, and the front with increased air intakes accommodates lamps. In the interior, the cockpit is made with high quality materials and more comfortable seats.

The basis model will be equipped with a 2,7 liter engine and achieves an output of 248 HP, with the Boxster S in the near future it will rise to 280 HP.

In addition to the roadster Porsche, the next Boxster model will also be available as a Coupé version with roof.

Well dont tell anyone else Mark [;)]

Does your 'source' have any news on the coupe?. I have heard (not from a reliable source) that Porsche have dropped the idea so as not to encroach on the 996/997.

I didn't ask as Coupe doesn't interest me but all I have read recently says its very much alive and will be kicking later in 2005. If I get an opporunity I shall see what my source says and report back accordingly [;)]

Pending a reply from Ian, I'll tell you about my 550.

My May build model is now due to arrive sometime in June. Dealer said ALL 550's are being built in Finland and this naturally adds time to delivery to UK.

Oh well at least summer in the UK (Leeds) has yet to start yet!

Mike

Spoke to my dealer today for an update on my May build 2.7. Due for build next week, so he reckons OTR mid June.

Hi Chaps.......this really annoys me if its true.......the dealer assured me that the new model Boxster was not being released until mid to late 2005. Are you absolutely sure about this? I would definitely not have ordered the current one, and would have waited. Surely the magazines would have had more access to the car by this time?? I'm also sure Porsche would release it in Germany first.......normally a few months before the UK......and so the German press would definitely have seen proper photographs of the production model by now. Am I wrong??

Cheers,
J.

Mike
thanks for the message
mine is a 25th May build and have been quoted around second week in June OTR
please keep in touch if you have any changes
Andrew
PS it's grim down South as well - seems to have being raining since about Oct 03[&o]

J ... I can only be as sure about this info if you consider the following facts:-

I have been sent an order form to sign

I have been asked to pay a £2000.00 deposit 100% refundable, no questions asked at any time up to actually specifying an actual car of course

I have been offered a delivery date of January 1st 2005 and I could even get a car this year if all goes according to plan! I don't use my car in winter months very much if at all so Jan 1st delivery isn't of any interest to me and I would personally go for March 1st 2005 [;)]

Hopes this clarifies the position some what for you ....

Andrew,
I think you'll be lucky - most dealers reckon on two weeks to leave the factory, transort to UK and clear customs. Then add another week to send to local dealer and PDI.

I'm being quoted mid June OTR and its being built next week (w/e15th).

Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but July 1st looks more likely for yours (just in tiem for the British summer)[:D]

Hi Daro - thanks for your answer......who's your dealer? I'd like to talk to him before I approach mine!! Cheers,
J.

Last year I had a may build boxster
