N rated Tyres

I'm using Contis on my rear 17 cup wheels but Avon ZZ3's on the front. Only wanders over white lines, but Chris Goffey said the same thing when he tested it on the old top gear.

apologies mentioned a wrong size in a post earlier I am running 225 50 16 on the front.

after a lot of coming and going I have just ordered a set of conti premium contact 2 after looking at the data sheets.

A work contact put me in touch with a company called viking tyres they have a glasgow branch, they happened to have an offer on and the contis were a good price. They deliver to a unit in our business park so I can get added to their van run for free delivery also next day!

ORIGINAL: TTM

The Bridgestone S-02 is still made in 245/45 16"... Still haven't come across a better tyre in 16" yet. It does remarkably well in the wet too, provided you don't behave like a hooligan.

Great stuff another for the list! I think I will head there next time out. Just had a quick browse and for those interested it looks like 245/45/16 are readily available in the following flavors from the usual online suspects.

Toyo T1-R
Continetnal
Bridgestone S02
Nankang NS-1

Still a few sets of Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 seem to be floating about but they are jolly expensive, and looks like you could theoretically import some Bridgestone RE-11 but again cost prohibitive.

Strath - personally I don't think you can go far wrong with the conti's - some don't like them - but they seem to last an age, as above you really only have a choice of three or four without breaking a sweat.

Has anyone here tried Nankangs?

Friend of mine swears by the Nankang on his turbo S, but I loathe them. Felt to me like his car slips on the road, doesn't feel connected at all, but perhaps it's a matter of getting used to.

I don't like the Continentals, but the Nankang always felt even worse to me.

My Lux came with Nankang rubber on. They were fine - 17" Cup 1 wheels (or replicas) and it was soo planted. Nice tread pattern too [;)]

Then I put the 15" original wheels back on, with Bridgestone rubber. The handling didn't feel so good, but it might have been the change in wheel size. After some tracking tweaks the Bridgestones are good, but still don't feel quite as grippy as the Nankang. (Having said that, the Cup wheels were wider than the teledials).

Not all Nankangs are equal. My old series one car had new Nankangs all round and when I tried to doughnut in a semi-loose Alpine carpark on a charity rally in Italy, I couldnt get it to break grip properly (immortalised on DVD too, embarrasingly).
