Need 4 tyres........................but...............

ORIGINAL: Hilux

the rear rims STILL seem to protrude too much as if the tyre is too small []

Really wierd [&:]

Maybe you have the incredibly rare 11" rears that are marked up as 9" and were used by Walter Rohrl to test the 944 prototype aroung the Nurburgring back in 1980

Hi Lali,

Cos its not a Silver Rose, its spec`d as if it were a Silver Rose incl sunroof delete option. It has everything except the upholstery and paint. Its an 87 chassis reg`d in 88 in USA, strange eh?

you're right they dont come over the rim much! But 245 is what the book says

Exactly my point, I`d say I could certainly get away with 265`s or 275`s even with the suspension lowered as it is on mine.

Twould be nice [8D] but Im never that lucky..............still its food for thought so I`ll measure rim to rim.

Reason I`m suspicious is that a 245 tyre is approx 10" wide so the tyre tread should be wider than the internal 9" rim distance by about 2" yet my tread is level with the internal rim, therefore the tyre looks too small on the wheels IMO [] See both sets of photos I posted and the tread is the same width but the later tyres have rim protection that is barely level with outside of the rim.

You might be right cos I reckon that the wheels are wider than 9"

I`ve seen cars with 245`s on without rim protection that are like my front tyres yet mine isnt.

Nope, [] 9" rims.......................ho hum

Update,

The FK451 tyres are wearing in well, noise levels are lower than my old SO2`s, particularly at speed although bump/thump over potholes is definitely harsher. I`m running them at 33psi. Dry grip is v v good so far and wheelspin out of corners `seems` reduced.

The wider fronts (225 as against 205) `seem` to provide more positive turn in at lower speeds into tight corners and the back `sticks` more under gradual power.

All this coiud, of course, be down to the fact that they are 1) newer 2) have more tread [&:] but I think I like them.

Well impressed to date
