I attended a PCGB regional event at my local OPC yesterday and agree that 718 Boxster sales are slow.
Of course that fact may be due to any number of current economic and political considerations facing all of us in the UK at present, and not entirely due to the 718's 4 pot turbo and farty exhaust note. However interest in the 718 Cayman models, I was informed, is currently very strong.
My feeling is, that the 718 Cayman will eventually be accepted as an outstanding positive development of the Cayman range. Once Porsche people and other aspiring enthusiasts have seen the 718 Cayman performing on the track, and as owner's comments on the significantly improved dynamics become more publicly reported, I'm sure the new car will find it's niche within the "driver orientated" sports coupe marques.
The flat sixes will always be sought after, the new 4 pot turbos will be accepted in time, I'm sure of that.
As a 3 time Cayman owner, last one being a CR manual, I'll be comparing my new 718 Cayman S PDK from a driver's perspective. I'll be reporting later on how it shapes up.
