Hi all

I have recently brought a 944t on a C plate in black, been looking for a while and I love it.

I just brought a set of 911 turbo replica alloys off of a fellow member and I put them on the car and they look fantastic The offset are fron et23 205 x 50 x 17 and the rears 255 x 40 x 17 with an offset of Et15 which I was told would fit by a few people.

After putting these on I noticed that the n/s rear seemed to stick out a little more than the other side, but still had some clearance took it for a drive and all fine untill I decided to put my foot down in 1st I heard a rumbling sound but thought it was the exhaust but on way home and went down a country lane and the road was very bumpy aned then came the noise again and with a glance in the rear view mirror see rubber flapping around. The tyre has hit the arch and there was a little kink in the arch and its basicall ruined the tyre.

I swapped the wheels around to see if it was a different sized alloy but it was the same.

Question is this is there some kind of adjustment that can bring this wheel in, or is there something badly wrong, I had a friend look at it and he said there is no movement in the rear axle, he said it could of had a rear wing replaced in the past and it hasn't been fitted correctly.

Or is ET 15 the wrong offset for a 1986 944t but the other side is fine.

car was motd 3 weeks ago too

Thanks in advance any help much appreciated

Simon

I noticed that the n/s rear seemed to stick out a little more than the other side

This is normal for a 944, the wings can be up to about an inch or so out of alignment, every 944 I've seen is like that to some degree [:D]

The later 944 turbos have rolled arches, it could be that you need to roll yours (fold the lip back up inside the arch). A good bodyshop should be able to do it without cracking the paint if you're lucky.

If you're concerned about the wheels being the correct off-set for your car post a pic or two, it should be fairly obvious.

Those offsets are for the earlier pre ABS hubs. The changeover period was around 1986 so it may be you have the later offset hub.

The fact that they nearly clear leads me to think you have early offsets and just need to roll your arch lips a little. The N/S arch is always a little narrower than the O/S due to mid 80's slide rule technology [:D]
