New 964 web site

As an additional feature of the new web site I am attempting to provide a page which shows an example of EVERY colour available on the 964. Given that, as far as I can tell, there were 61 colours in addition to many "match to sample" colours it is likely to become a massive task.

I would like to get suitable photographs of each colour and I would ask you to have a look at the page (here) and if you have a photograph of a car in a colour not represented please e-mail me a picture of at least 800 x 600 resolution showing the car in profile or 3/4 front view to info@964uk.com together with a note of the colour code.

If you notice that a particular colour has been omitted please also mention that when sending the picture.

Also, if you happen to notice any mistakes please let me know via the same e-mail address.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Dave

Hi Steve,

Yep, the two of us with a couple of other cars on the way to Le Mans. Autoroute to Rouen, then the old route to Le Mans via Gace and Alencon. An absolute blast the two of us had; coming off roundabouts after small towns and simply blasting away past lorries and queues - all within legal limits of course ;-)

On the return journey through Rouen a friend took the clip below of Greg and myself loving the tunnel!

Turbo owners particularly might be interested in a detailed description written by Adrian Streather of the workings of the 964 Turbo engine and it's controls, including fuelling, lubrication, ignition etc. etc. The document is provided as an Acrobat PDF file and is available from the "Technical - Engine" page on the 964uk.com web site. A direct link here.

Dave

A very informative article on preparing a 964 for the track has now been added to the website.

Many of you who have been following the development of the 964uk.com web site along with many of the recent newcomers to the Club and to the 964 may be interested to see some changes made recently to the site.

Primarily affecting the Gallery displays, the implementation of some "Fancybox" code has enabled individual pictures to be zoomed up into centre screen and movement through the Gallery is now enabled via forward and back buttons on each picture or by using the scroll wheel on your mouse. This change has enabled me to avoid linking to another page for each picture so making the whole experience much more user friendly.

Comments (and contributions) are, of course, always welcome.

Regards

Dave

As long as people remember that everyones computer screen may be set slightly differently, so colours will appear with a certain amount of variation.

Sorry if that sounds rather anal, but having worked with scientists who measure and research those differences (in the hopes of getting ever closer to producing equipment that really can replicate the real colour), I thought it was worth pointing out.

Had a quick look at the 964 web site. Great work guys.

We'll have a root around in the bowels of the care home and see if Sideways Sid left any 964 bits and pieces behind.

The Porsche 964 is often overlooked and not many people realise what a quantum leap forward the 964 was in the 911 lineage. At last a `911` with a heater that actually works, decent brakes, power steering and that fantastic engine which has so much power hidden away + a lovely exhaust note.

Although we've moved on and are now ready to replace the 997 GT3 RS.1 we often talk about the C2 Coupe with affection, great memories.

Somethings never change and it's for similar reasons to yours that Rob and Simon Faulkner started titanic.co.uk/964 years ago as a means of communication whilst PCGB procrastinated.

Thanks Gary [:)] The site is nearly all down to Dave and although no longer in an official 964 PCGB capacity he always add stuff to the site that people send him.

....and you're of course right about how great 964s are. [:)]

Still there but no longer being updated since Dave W left the club.

p.s. you have to click the wide pic at the top of the page the link takes you to, to get to the rest of the website.

Yes that old website (put together by John Miles) was very useful but disappeared a while ago. IIRC, Total911 magazine bought the domain but have not done anything with it. You can still get to some of it using this archived version but it's a bit messy:

The 964UK website put together by Dave Wilkinson still exists:

Steve,

Although the 964 website opens briefly, it redirects to a 944 website:

http://www.webring.org/hub/944?w=1280;rh=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2E964uk%2Ecom%2F;rd=1

Did you manage to view the 964 site then?

Edit: If you're quick & click on the banner/pic at the top of the screen I could still get in.
