Plan to visit Le Mans classic and also Porsche Parade ( keeps the wife happy) also register director PCGB so In the thick of it. Hope to get the car on the road in a few weeks time probably early March. Plan to get space for our register at a few events this year. See you around,, Paul Follett is happy with this as well. Keep driving rgds Ken

Good news Ken, the 968 section on here could do with a little waking up - although I doubt we'll ever get as noisy and garrulous as that 944 mob. Over on 968uk there's plans afoot for a 968 gtg at Donnington in July (same weekend as the Le Mans Classic unfortunately). Another thought I had as a good venue for a gtg is the Haynes Museum in Somerset, saw a bit about it on TV the other night, looks really interesting, and I believe they are most welcoming to organised club visits. Edit - http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=673774&mpage=1&key=&#673774 is the Donnington trackday meet that may turn in to a 968 gathering.

Good tohave you onboard. Can I suggest we merge the 944 and 968 forum, this place is dead most of the time.

Good news! You'll have to tell us more about this 968 Sport you're rebuilding. Sounds link an interesting project!

Paul ......... you may have a point but the best way of getting things moving is to start an interesting or informative thread and encourage the rest of us on here to contribute ..... that responsibility does rest on all our shoulders equally.

Hi Guys My 968 is only just back on the road, godson Ian at igracing.co.uk in Wellingborough has been rebuiding it and almost every job has required more work than anticipated. So far i reckon it will be costing around £6k I don't like crappy suspension, so new KW has gone on all corners, new belts, oil seals gear change mechanism new tyres "N" rated of course plus plus refurb wheels , period stereo, Brembo full overhaul, not sure about disc pads reckon the current brakes are nbg, definetly needs new disc pads. Irritable things like the battery guage only reads full charge, petrol guage reads 3/4 instread of full. Getting their slowly if you need to know more about the actual work talk to Ian at Wellingborough he also works for Lotus F1 team during the season plus he is a whizz with suspension and sorted our shared 924S which goes like sh--- and the 968 will be hard pushed to better it as a drivers car, that's just my opinion. Hope that gives you an idea where I am coming from plus the car is a project with 911 and Porsche World. Even the starter motor motor started to grind away las tfew days that's now sorted degreased the pinion.. Am sure when it's finally sorted a track day will follow as I reckon a few quick laps will prove whether its any good or not. Used peak revs a couple of times on the motorrway yesterday, rgds Ken Coad Sorry to have kept you in suspense. Also had some body panels re painted, what's next this is only half the story...

Hi guys for those who are interested my 968 has been driven by me for only 200 miles. I admit I am taking my time the car car now is with Andy Duncan of Ninex in Maidenhead, they specialise in 968's and he is sorting the dash as my local garage - great folk= but declared the dash gauges were a problem to sort so luckily Andy from Ninex came to the rescue and loaned me another dash within a couple of hours. How's that for service so I must thank him publicly. Meanwhile he is resetting the ride height, tracking the suspension and I have supplied him with Mintex disc pads, as I want it to stop better than it did . Handling is another of my quirks , I need my car to be totally chuckable. on. So progress is happening, gear mechanism is being adjusted for quick snick changes, it should naturally fall into the next lower gear when changing down. So far so good , I can't wait to get it on the road even the sunroof should work. Sold the tyres that were on the car (not N rated) fitted new Bridgestone So3's they are my favourites. It's all happening a little more patience and should be up and running soon.. rgds Ken Coad

Hi Ken Sounds like your 968 is going to be quite special when it's finished! I drove 260 miles in my 944T yesterday (it is my daily driver) but as she clicked over onto 230,000 miles yesterday I will be looking to retire her and replace her with a 968 in the near future. Once I move house (will be quite close to Wellingborough!) I will set about finding the right car, so will probably be badgering this forum for opinions on likely candidates! In the meantime I am keeping my eye on the market to see what's what and to try and make a decision on which model (basically I am open, the only model I can't have is a CS as I do need a 2+2) Cheers Jeremy

Hi Chris & Ken, Just purchased a 968 cab which will replace our much loved & driven 944S2cab (9k in 2 yrs holidays & Porsche rallys/events) so 1st time on the 968 forum! Donnington sounds good must check dates? We visited the Haynes museum a couple of years ago while on holiday close by! great day out & superb cafeteria excellant lunches. The museum has some incredible vehicles can't remember seeing any Porsches though? Mind you it's a bit of a haul from Norfolk for a get together! Ken enjoying your feed back on your rebuild perhaps we can visit one/some of the folks you have used in the process? Question? My 968 Cab has 17" cups which seem fine, not been far yet (week in Cotswolds end of week so should know better?) but would like to try 16" wheels & tyres, I have a spare set of D90's from my 944S2 cab and the tyre sizes are same on 16" question is will the D90's fit a 968?? Anyone know or tried it?

hi, i have bridgestone so2 n3 on my sport which are 17", did have contisport n2 but couldn`t get the size for the front, i am very happy with the bridgestones, don`t know about 16" wheels though. rob,

My coupe came on Yokohamas from the factory, they gripped well but wore out quite quickly. I tried Contis - they wore even quicker. I ended up with Bridgestones (Turana on the back, I gather also made by Bridgestone) and they did well, so I'd reckon Bridgestone as the best of those 3. I've also seen good reports of Falken 452's on 968's - had them on my MB S203 and they were fine.
