Hi Guys re 968 comments, anyone looking for a nice 968 Sport I know Andy Duncan at Ninex (Maidenhead) has a dark blue one for sale manual and looks good don't know the price. Ref tyres mine are Bridgestone SO3's think other well known makes are available "N" rated. And yes have plans to fix a meeting with a well known Porsche Specialiast who sorts out 968's sometime in early October. Will keep you posted. Don't forget Sept 8th Reguister display Day Calke Abbey which I am organising be embarrassing if we don't get plenty of 968's along and you can check my car out.. rgds Ken

Thanks Mike, I'll try them when we get back, it's Sunday 29th 1715hrs 2 very wet days so far into our Cotswolds week! Good job the rally was moved to May it would have been a washout loads of standing water! My feelings so far on 968 versus 944S2 is mostly positive certainly more refined and it's way ahead of my S2 regards being a quality example! The 2 areas I'm not in love with are the 6 speed box change is tighter, but ratios are too close making the S2 5 speed a more relaxing box for me! The handling isn't great on bumpy B roads with a tendancy to wander & pull left, on the plus side it corners on rails! I'm hoping the handling is down to the 17" wheels & wider tyres which I will confirm or not with trying the D90's during May? There are many things to admire about the 968 but at moment I'm missing the S2 - maybe it's the caveman in me??ORIGINAL: A9XXC Tony, your D90s will fit fine on the 968,
Thanks to Chris & Rob for "N" rated tyre info, I would appreaciate feedback from anyone who has tried both 16" & 17" wheels on a 968?ORIGINAL: Chrishazle My coupe came on Yokohamas from the factory, they gripped well but wore out quite quickly. I tried Contis - they wore even quicker. I ended up with Bridgestones (Turana on the back, I gather also made by Bridgestone) and they did well, so I'd reckon Bridgestone as the best of those 3. I've also seen good reports of Falken 452's on 968's - had them on my MB S203 and they were fine.
Ken, Having googled Calke Abbey to find it's location is doable in a day for me so providing the 968 wins out over my S2 I'll diarise it to attend? Since the 968 register is obviously smaller than many might it be a good idea to create a geographical listing of owners so event planning could take into account location with the intention of maximising attendance by minimising mileage for the majority? For example I would love to do the Haynes museum again but's a 5 hour+ journey so not practical for a day while Ninex at Maidenhead & Calke Abbey would both be possible? Sorry if I'm preaching to the converted, it's just a thought? I also think 1st July for Front runner is a poor choice of date as it clashes with several other events, compared with when it was in the autumn? What do you 968 forum guys think?
Hi Guys Saturday October 20th a visit to a well known Porsche Specialist with ther very latest equipment including all the suspension geometry high tech kit is organised by me, they will be opening their doors to the 968 register. They are based in Hertfordshire should be a great day. They' are building a race 968 for the PCGB championship, and they very knowledgeable to discuss track day preparation and standard road use. Need your support, that's Calke Abbey Sept 8th as well , off to Brands hatch in the 968 on Saturday 5th May. cheers Ken Coad reg sec

First off, on 968uk there's a map with owner's approximate locations - it's not comprehensive, but it does give some idea of geographical spread (including Holland, Hong Kong and Oztralibum!) Also it's a place where Ken/someone with more IT knowledge than me (which means just about anyone!) could build something similar for the PCGB 968 register. Hertfordshire is a heck of a lot closer than Calke Abbey, must keep that day free. Daughter is just up the road near Aylesbury (far too close to McNulters, must get her to move!!) so could combine two visits in 1. Haynes Museum is another great place to visit. I missed out on an MBOA trip there last year, aparently Haynes made them very welcome. Might be worth making it a weekend jaunt combined with maybe Yeovilton RNAS museum etc - wings and wheels weekend, and not so bad for those that have quite a drive to get that far south and west. Also a chance to visit an appropriate farmhouse for some proper cider (not cidre!!).
Hi Guys Any info re UK location areas of 968 owners would ne appreciated for sure i am just guessing but an event near Derby and another in Hetfordshire spreads the locations ,and by the way the visit to a well known Porsche Specialist is RPM at Long Marston near Tring i am off there today for a neew grille etc. Here's a question for you 968 owners i am reliably told that the 968 spacesaver wheel is a bloody nuisance and I should chuck it out and buy a Boxster 16 inch spare with one of those skinny tyres - already inflated and ready to use in an emergency that sounds like sense to me what can you advise?? Don't forget Register Display Day at Calke Abbey nr Derby Sept 8th I will keep remindinyg you as i aim to communicate. At Brands Hatch this Saturday rgds Ken Coad
Great feed back Chris! I've reg on 968uk so if we can get as many 968 members as possible to register then that should help Ken with planning? I think the Haynes / RNAS museum weekend a great idea we could have a 968 WOTY? Anyone else interested?ORIGINAL: Chrishazle First off, on 968uk there's a map with owner's approximate locations - it's not comprehensive, but it does give some idea of geographical spread (including Holland, Hong Kong and Oztralibum!) Good positive stuff Ken we're moving in the right direction! Nice to hear you're out & about in your 968! Last day today of our Cotswold week, weather dry last 2 days top down most of Tuesday best day weather wise, getting used to gearbox handling on rougher roads still an issue to check viz 16" wheels/tyres?

Here's the link to the map : http://www.porsche968uk.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8484 At a fast count there's about 50 locations of 968's in UK on the map! You probably need to be registered on 968uk to view the thread - the first post shows the link and password for the map. Years ago I submitted my location and car details to the then 968 register secretary, so somewhere in the records Ken, you should have lots of old info! I think somewhere on my PC I even have the pro forma for joining the 968 PCGB register, if that's any use.
Hi Guys Sorry no history or file or handover am starting 968 register from scratch if any one has any useful info gratefully appreciated. Since my last posting I have acquired a narrow type m/bike looking Boxster spare wheel/y tyre comes inflated 50mph max and is a T105/95 R17 90M CST 17 runs 60psi. Someone with a 968 must have been their before me as I reckon the original spare you have to inflate in an emergency is pretty naff. This alternative drops into the spare wheel well but stands proud so you need to roll over the carpet at the top where the boot lid shuts. Your comments please... PS Register Display Day Calke Abbey Sept 8th am trying to have a specialist along as a car clinic on our cars, what does Paul McNulty reckon to that idea ? seems like FrontRunners might go for it rgds Ken Coad

Well done with the new position! Once I find a 968 I will probably be bothering you for information! What does a register secretary get access to? Can you get copies of the original build sheets, order forms or other interesting things for owners who are members (if you know what I mean!)???

Once you have your car, one of the benefits of club membership is a free Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche - which gives build completion date, date of first registration and a list of factory fitted options.

Thats actually rather cool. Do you just get one per membership? I am planning on buying a 968 and a 993 would I get one for each of them?

No, one per car. I had one for my coupe, then got one for the cabriolet when I bought it last year.

It's also relativly easy to find and download the parts catalogue, including the separate seats catalogue, from the Porsche website. Google E_968_Katalog.pdf and E_STZ_KATALOG.pdf.
Hi Ken,Chris & Mike, All good news the 16" D90's have transformed the car from not nice on 17" cups to being delightful as per my S2! Anyone who has only run 17" wheels on a 968 you don't know how good the car really is until you've driven on 16" wheels!! 17's maybe better for track days but not general road use! On the tyre front I just spotted a thread regarding "N" rating on the 993 reg which lead to down loading a 2008 Porsche tyre chart which covers 944/968 & 968 turbo 16" tyres are Continental ContiSport contact "N1". 17" wheels are Bridgestone Potenza S-02 or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 both "N3" rated B/stones get +++ rating dry only + wet Michelin Get ++ rating wet & dry! Ken, I'll definately be coming to Caulke Abbey & RPM in Oct not sure if wife will join me? likely at Caulke but not RPM? I've always wondered what D90s look like on a 968. Any chance of a picture?
