New 997 + Aerokit + Turbo wheels

Here's a pic of my new 997 C2S (collected Friday 1st Sept) with Aerokit and Turbo wheels, which I think look & sounds fantastic (Sports Exhaust)!![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]This replaced my 996 GT3 and previous to that 996 Turbo, so having a new 997 with GT3-like Aerokit and Turbo wheels seems appropriate.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]While I was collecting it on Friday at Reading OPC in front of me in the queue were Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell collecting their 997 Turbos. Interesting was that both had gone for the tiptronic gearbox, I guess perhaps they have other toys when they want to shift gear themselves. I also noticed that Brundle had the standard steel brakes (didn't notice what Blundell had). As they were waiting for the handover they were teasing each other about the respective options they'd selected, rubbishing the options the other had chosen.... Blundell had the last laugh though as Brundle's car wouldn't start!! They OPC staff had to get a portable battery to get it going - Oops![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Brundle commented that he liked the look of my 997 - he said it looked flamboyant! I'll take that as a compliment I think!![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Steve[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I really like the look - the wheels suit the narrow body shape - enjoy!

Cheers. The more I see it the more I like it. Ditto the Aerokit, which I wasn't sure about at all (plus seems expensive for replacement plastic front / rear...) but my girlfriend persuaded me (she was right, as she was about solid black rather than metallic).
The rear view shows a few more curves:

Gorgeous!

There is a used Basalt c2s with Aerokit at OPC Bolton with colour coded sport designs - looks mean as hell!!

Looks great.
I picked up my Basalt black C4S with aerokit a few months back. I too was not competely sure about the aerokit, but now, I'm really pleased I went for it. it makes the car look a bit more individual, and makes a difference too.

I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun.

Agree with you on the aerokit. I saw cars on the Autobahn website fitted with it and didnt like it. When I walked into Swindon OPC 2 weeks ago I saw a 4S in Basalt fitted with it and a Savanah interior.

It looked superb.

Seen the one in sheffield, its a c4s and looks better than the gt3. The turbo wheels make it look superb. I prefer the look to the turbo aswell. Turbo looks a bit fussy to me.

Steve, any chance that you could post a few more pics please, this is exactly what I want to do but was unsure how the aerokit would look on the slightly narrower body. From the piccies so far it looks stunning. Thanks

Bax,

There's a 200k limit per response so here's new pic 1 of 4. Let me know if there is another angle you'd like and I'll sort it in the next few days,

Cheers

Bax,

One more thing you might want to consider is how you feel about the number of scratches the very bottom lip of the front spoiler gets. In only 10 days now a few ramps have already put in at least 30 scratches / grooves in the plastic. On a black car these show up as the plastic has a white core (so I've discovered!), so the contrast really shows.
When I collected it from OPC Reading they wouldn't let me drive away from inside the showroom as there was a ramp down to street level - they insisted on doing it (they drove off the ramp at an angle) as they didn't want it scratched before i drove it off!!
The fact that the scratches are visible from the front of the car just shows how much the spoiler gets grounded, it's not just the underneath the lip but about an inch of vertical spolier that gets the rough treatment too. And it sounds noisy / expensive / embarassing each time you do it...

You can't see it in the pictures I've posted as these were pics straight out of the showroom.

I personally would still have the Aerokit tho!!

Cheers

Steve...Autoglym do a little touch up wax (it's basically a crayon), which has come in handy for those little white marks on the lower spoiler. The OPC are seeing if the ruberised version off of the turbo or GT3 could be a retro fit. I'm sure as time goes by, mines going to get scruffy enough to want to replace it & I'd rather go for a non painted version 2nd time around if I can.

i must say, the solid black is stunning: I quite fancied it, but OPC Cardiff reckoned it looked 'flat'. I disagree entirely; very, very nice.

Steve,

Stunning looking car, good choices.

I am intrigued as to how you got the Turbo wheels though, did you do a late spec? I know Porsche now offer them as an option for the new Targa etc. but they were not available when I spec'd my C4S (which I collected 2nd Sept.). I have the standards but painted basalt black which was expensive but looks good.

I was also advised that the "flat" black shows scratches worse than a metallic black. Not sure if this was true as I wanted the flat but lost my nerve in the end and went for Basalt!

Re. the Aerokit I have to say I am really jealous. I wanted it but having read what you said about bumps etc. I am glad I did not go for it. I live in the Isle of Man and the roads are not very forgiving even without speed bumps!

Congrats.

Julian
