New Aqua Blue Colour

Darren

What is the benefit of detailing a brand new car? I understand that a clay bar and Zymol is suggested.

apologies for answering for darren, but i have spoken to my detailer last week and in his opinion the state some new porsches have been delivered in defies belief!!he thinks(perhaps unsurprisingly!)that all new cars should be detailed to start the life of the car in a what should be showroom shine but protected by his zymol coats from day 1.some he says have not been prepared properly and have imperfections etc etc which the first polish will only seal in and it is better to cleanse back then apply the zymol.

Hi Dyllan,

Is that the clay bar, HD Cleanse and then the Zymol. If so could probably do it myself as will have some time off at the end of October. Am also planning to get paintshield to front of car so do I do the detailing before the paintshield goes on?

On collection I always take an independant expert to check the bodywork of a new Porsche. The purchaser is invarably dazed by his new car and spends half the time hardly listening to the hand over brief. An independant person will not be so smitten and concentrate on checking the bodywork for imperfections.

Mind you, my last new Mini was presented with the wrong number plates and a large scuff on the rear bumper. The previous was delivered with the wrong wheels.

So guys, when you collect your £80K beauty, make sure it is a beauty!

Re the detailing - dyllan got there in full.....for me it is about getting a proper Zymol treatment done as early as is reasonable possible. The car is not dirty, but does need the feed and wax. I use John Drake (www.johnswax.co.uk) who has always done a good job for me.

Indeed you could do it yourself - John took 5 hours to do my car and it looks great, and the feel of the wax is amazing - I reckon it would take me longer and the job would not be so good - plus I'd have to shell out more for the kit than for his professional services 2 or 3 times a year.
