New Carrera T Order

Hi tscaptain.

Have not driven a Carrera S or a GTS. I have previously owned a 991.1 C2. I have test driven two 991.2 C2s - one PDK and one manual.

I am happy that the Carrera T will be powerful/fast enough, both in comparison to my 991.1 C2 and also my current 2017 Panamera 4.

Also, budget came into the equation. The new Carrera T just seems to tick all the boxes! [:)]

I trust your bank balance is feeling suitably bruised this evening Simon?

Edit: I just saw that you're a Financial Planning type.. ECOS?? :)

Congrats Simon.

I locked down the spec on mine before Christmas for March delivery.

Our choices are uncannily similar! I have gone for yellow, T interior pack, Bose, magic wipers, upgraded headlights, parking sensors, cruise, rear seats, manual, rear badge delete, smokers pack, think that’s about it.

Enjoy, really looking forward to getting mine.

Thanks, Rob!

Paid my deposit and locked down my spec today for a March build!

Yes, very similar specs! From memory: Racing Yellow, manual transmission, Carrera T interior in Racing Yellow, ParkAssist (front & rear), heated multi-function steering wheel, rear seats, PCM, cruise control, smokers pack, auto-dimming mirrors and rain sensor.

Roll on our deliveries! [:)]

I'd invest the slightly extra amount and get the rear camera. I had it on my last 2S and only have the sensors on the Boxter I'm driving while I wait for my new GTS to arrive in a few weeks, and I really miss it.

Cheers

Forgive my ignorance, but what are 'magic wipers'?

Thanks, Ellis. I had sensors, but no camera on my first three Porsches. I won't miss what I never had?! [8|] Plus spec is locked down now.

Cheers,

Simon

I know! Your heated wheel will be nice in winter though.

I like the idea of the reverse camera but, like you, my spec is locked and I’ve not had it on previous Porsches so hopefully won’t miss it.

+1 Rob. The heated wheel was virtually the first option I ticked! Loved it on my Macan, missed it on my 991.1 C2 and really appreciate it on my Panamera!

Roll on collection day for us both! [:)]

As a counter opinion to that, I find my heated wheel to be a b***** nuisance, since it keeps switching itself on during any spirited wheel twirling. I've actually requested my PC to disable it.

I had a quote for retro-fitting a rear camera to my 991 for £500 with a proper interface to the infotainment screen from an independent car electrician. No doubt it might invalidate an extended warranty! I will probably have it done in the Spring when I tend to use the car more.

Funny you should say that Clive but I have experienced that too - I put it down to my clumsiness/ lack of familiarity but it did seem easy to turn on accidentally.

Haven't noticed that in my Panamera 4 over the last 13,500 miles, but then again I probably have it turned on most of the time anyway! [8D]

I had it on cars when ice driving in Finland so there was a lot of wheel twirling!

Sounds like fun, Rob! Mind you, for ice driving in Finland, I think I'd want the heated steering wheel turned on! [;)]
