new EU rules for car speed limiters from 2022

5 days early this year it seems, 25+ year old cars wont be included. Maybe you should consider what your phone can tell the feds now, if you don't turn it off while on a hoon....

At least this could/should sound the death knell of the pestilential speed (sorry, safety) camera along with the attached revenue stream. I'm sure that's going to be popular with local authorities, etc., so watch out for an increase in parking fines..!

Assuming the car's (true) speed is calculated using GPS rather than its on-board (up to 10% fast) speedometer we could actually be driving faster.

Jeff

As the system can be overridden( or indeed switched off, as I read it) and 90%+ of cars on the road won't have this on board for some considerable time, if ever, I doubt we will witness the demise of the safety camera for a long time yet. [:(]

The other thing is of course Data Privacy, if they wont unlock a terrorists phone then will they hand over your hooning data, Just turn off Location Services, that stops all that rubbish and your friendly stalker from finding you

No human rights or race card to play when defending speeders though....
