Climate ... have never needed the two zone as I`m a loner , had it in the previous Cayman S and found that having the passenger side cooler than driver`s had a negative impact on the system`s performance, why ?

Noooooo! Like many, you’re missing the point Andrew. The two-zone is irrelevant, and anyway I would have thought it at advantage in addressing your complaint. With climate control you just set the temperature and the system does the rest, controlling the temperature and flow (fan speed), whereas with the standard basic system you have to fiddle with the temperature and fan speed to get what you want, which is an unnecessary distraction especially when driving quickly on road and track. That may be OK in a bigger vehicle but in the Cayman’s small cabin with a hot engine bay just behind your back temperatures can change quite quickly.

My biggest gripe - voiced regularly on here - is that on a so-called premium make of vehicle climate control should be standard, and especially on the more expensively optioned cars like the GTS and GT4.

Just my tuppence worth of course, and others are entitled to their own opinions. [;)]

Jeff

I agree with Jeff. Climate is well worth the £500 but it should be standard on cars above £50k and even more so on those touching £100k. Admittedly there is the argument for weight saving but just make it a NCO to spec it out and have standard AC.

The door pull handles are GT silver regardless unless you spec' yellow or red,

I actually wanted the Rev counter in black but not an option :-(

I was 50/50 on the two zone but for the rare occasion when I have the wife as a passenger then it will be a life saver. ;-)

Bloody expensive thou' !

The door pull handles are definitely not silver regardless! They're yellow in my car and red on a mate's, always matching the stitching choice.

The grey rev counter is a GT car 'thing' so embrace it and go with it - it'll match your anthracite trim.

As Jeff says the key thing about "2-zone climate" is the climate part, not the 2-zone part. Like Jeff, it's one of my pet hates too. So many people seem to miss that part, but if it doesn't bother you then fine.

Hi Rodney. Welcome. Two great problems to have - GT4 configuration and a lack of personal bulk. Your car will stand out like a black hole in the clear night sky!

My wife had a similar problem with the carbon buckets in my old R. A bit of EBay research and we found some cushions that sorted it. Buy what works for you and enjoy it without worrying about who will own the car after you. The 18 way seats are very good!

I meant they are silver be default (not black) and then the colour of the door pulls only changes if you spec' the red or yellow leather packages.

Anyway - sounds like I need a bit of contrast in my black interior! :)

Hi - Thanks, I feel very privileged to be in the position to afford and even order a GT4!

(Btw it's not Rodney I have the upgraded version... ha ha ;-) )

Fingers crossed on the 18 ways but about the best option for me.

(Think I may have ordered the folding buckets, but sadly not available any more).

Gotcha. Yep, the door pulls always match the stitching. If it was me I'd probably go for silver seat belts and the red steering wheel marker [;)]

Roderick,

I’m guessing that you haven’t yet locked-down your spec. I know that I’ve already mentioned how easy it is to get sucked into box-ticking the extensive option list but are you OK without the electrically folding mirrors and - yet another gripe of mine on such an expensive car - the auto-dimming mirrors?

Or maybe you’re saving your pennies to buy all that cleaning, polishing and waxing stuff you’re going to need keeping that black car looking good all the time! [;)]

Jeff

Auto diming mirrors also gets you auto wipers, which are very good on the latest Porsches.

Just saying [;)]

Doesn’t owning a black car preclude you from driving when it’s raining Dave? [;)]

[Apologies in advance to Roderick!].

Jeff

Ooh, harsh!

I think, it true Porsche owner style, if you've fully PPF'd it and cermic coated it you're fine Jeff....... [;)]

That’s true Dave. I always admire those who take on a black car because they must take a lot of work to keep them looking good all the time in all weathers - winter grime; summer dust!

Black must be a nightmare if you’re OCD … but then I suppose you’d be better opting for grey or silver?

Jeff

Aye, which is probably why they're so popular!

Anyhoo, what have you decided Roderick? A splash of colour on the inside or not?

Hi Roderick,

Welcome back to the club / forum and congratulations on ordering your GT4, you really won’t be disappointed, they are amazing machines and to my mind some up exactly what a modern Porsche should be.

I‘m a similar height to you but unfortunately carry far more luggage, so can’t really help you regarding the bucket seats, except to say I think that they are excellent, they really do enhance the driving experience, either way they have to be more supportive than the standard seats.

In terms of other options for the car, this is totally subjective, I would just make sure that you order what you want and can afford, although I would recommend the smoking pack for no reason other than to hide the awful hole in the centre console.

There are lots of differing views on the optional dual climate control, I agree with the views that it should really be included as a no cost option, but I didn’t spec it and so far I have not missed it.

Either way enjoy the anticipation of collecting your GT4 and driving it when it eventually arrives.

in the meantime, in case you are interested here is a short video that my daughter made of my collection day, I hope you enjoy it. https://youtu.be/vFyDuUj3WZs

Hi Martin,

Great video - I might do something like that when I pick mine up,

no drone footage as I don't have one! Ha ha.

Thanks for the response - did I spot the clubsport option in for car?

If so - what do you think?

Thanks Roderick,

As my car is predominantly a Sunday and fun day car, I wanted something that felt exciting and had more theatre about it than my previous 992, which was a fast, capable and comfortable car, but did not feel exciting or engaging in the same way that the GT4 does.

I didn’t go mad on the spec in terms of creature comforts (climate control, Bose, auto wipers, folding mirrors, etc) as my daily driver has those. I wanted a Porsche that looks and feels like a Porsche, so I went for the colour, bucket seats, clubsport pack, enhanced leather, contrasting stitching and seatbelts as well as one or two other bits and pieces.

I was going to go for PCCB’s but in the end, I didn’t feel that the cost was warranted for what I want out of the car.

I’m really happy with my GT4 and am glad that I specced the clubsport pack, although if I am honest it is as much about the aesthetics as it is about the practical benefits that it brings.

I specced the Clubsport pack for full track-spec purposes given that it's a GT car. The cage does ping and creak a bit here and there if that bothers you, and it does reduce the luggage space over the engine bay. If you also fit the fire extinguisher the passenger seat no longer has the space to move forwards and backwards so it's stuck in one place, plus the floor mat no longer fits properly unless you get a trimmer to change it. If you only want it for the harnesses there are other options out there but only Clubsport cars have the chassis mounting points fitted to the body in white to enable use of the factory Schroth hardware. There are also some additional cut-outs in the front carpets to fit a Motorsport front cage.

I would say if you want your car to be 100% immaculate don't get the harnessess fitted as the carpet cutouts can be a bit rough around the edges, depending on how fussy (or not) the fitter at your dealer is. As for the Clubsport pack in general it sounds like you don't need it as you've not currently specced it, but I think only you can decide if you want it or if you think it's worth the cost.

My fire extinguisher was fitted next to the centre console on the passenger side as that is where the fittings were in my car, so you can still move the seat back and forwards. I have a friend who is going to retrim my floor mat, although I think that they should come from Porsche in a made to measure size as part of the package, given what it costs.

The dealer fitted my harness and I have to say they have done a good job.

As you say all of this stuff is subjective.
