I suppose a little marketing goes a long way which is probably why Porsche used the doors from the Turbo on the C2 to edge the car into the lower emissions bracket.
You're dead on regarding aluminium body panels though. Friend of mine has an AM Vanquish and he's petrified of parking it anywhere!
