new person considering to buy a 944

That should get you a nice 944 turbo, or a 944 S2 Cabrio

Keep a couple of K to one side for the first year of ownership to mop up any problems the previous owner has neglected.. It may not cost you that much, but with that put to one side your going to be on the safe side.

The 2.7 (which I haven't seen) would be well, well within your budget. My indie (in Honiton) looks after it and he says that over the past 15,000 miles (from 62 to 77k) the current owner has had him go right through the car and sort out everything. He wants to sell it as he is looking to do track days and this car is too nice so he's going to buy a Turbo that he doesn't mind getting a bit scruffy.

I am currently thinking of looking at a high mileage 944S2 by high mileage I mean about 215,000 miles just want know what you lot think on the idea.
I would prefer a turbo really but can't find any that is a sensible distance away from me because for some reason not sure why the insurance is ÂŁ1000 cheaper for

The insurance is ÂŁ1000 cheaper for a Turbo or an S2?

When I get a chance to collect it from his folks' house and get it serviced and with a new MoT PRJ's on here's Turbo will be for sale in Devon.

the Turbo is cheaper and I would definatly be interested in the turbo you were on about there isn't any others for sale nearby which is quite annoying

Some pics of it in this thread http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=225197&mpage=1&key=taxi&#225197

Power graph from the "rollers of truth" http://www.cannell.co.uk/UKL%20F534MGB.htm

Paul is having trouble accessing the forum just now, but basically he's emigrated to Australia and decided not to take the car with him. It's at his folks' house in Cumbria with an expired MoT. One weekend when I get a chance (probably not until I get back from NZ in mid-Feb) I'm going to drive up there with Andy Moss and a set of trade plates and Andy will drive it back to Honiton, service it and put it through an MoT, then it will be ready for sale.

do you know how much it'll be selling for also did I see on the graphs that it had 300Bhp do you know what mods it has had done to it because I don't think I could get insurance for it not sure yet i'll have to check sometime

It's got ProMax chip & MAF, dual port wastegate with manual boost controller and a Janspeed exhaust with no cat. It's an '89 car so it has M030 suspension as standard and it has a marine blue leather sport interior.

To be honest if you can't insure a modified Turbo I think you'd be better buying a normally aspirated model as a standard Turbo isn't that nice a car. I'm not totally sure on price. If you drop me a mail I could give you an idea offline of how much would buy it now with no MoT if you wanted to take it on like that, but if it's prepared for sale it will depend how much is spent getting it there. It needs a pair of rear tyres and a windscreen washer pump but there is nothing else we know about wrong with it.

David Benjamin is looking for a new one after regretting selling his previous one, is it in good order as he has seen a lot of tat advertised as perfect so far,

Paul bought it from a mate of mine - it's a nice car, not mint but pretty solid

The h/g was done in 2005, the leather was pretty good (from memory) and it went well enough on the track

It also had some paint in 2005 and a new windscreen IIRC

add that to the work that's been done since & I would think it'll be as good a bet as most 17 year old cars.

I didn't realise you were Kurt's mate, Ed.

I'd describe it as good. It's not a concourse car, but neither is it a dog. It's had some paint as they all have and it isn't rusty, but it has some stone chips. The leather is indeed good and dark blue is a surprising amount less oppressive than black.

It's a small world ;) - I think he's partly responsible for my entry to the Porsche world. I think he might be tempted to buy his old car back at the right price (and get rid of that girly MX-5)

I've never met Kurt, but I remember him from Titanic and we exchanged some posts and PMs on the MX5 forum a while back. If he still has the girly MX5 when the sun comes out I wouldn't mind it; the RS-Limited is the absolute best one ever made and it's quite cool that his used to belong to one of the Evo journos as I recall - was it Peter Tomalin's?

celebrity owner? - he never told me that! - it does look quite nice with the race seats. I think it's his daily driver as it's the only remotely sensible car he owns [:D]
