New Porker ordered

I didn't have in mind oversteer moments! Rather turning sharp left onto a slower road and wanting to drop a couple of gears but needing my arms in knots because the left paddle is by my right knee. OK I'm exaggerating slightly but how would you feel if you wanted some throttle to keep the nose up in a steep turn only to find the throttle levers had moved under the seat! (or did I mean rudder or both! it was a long time ago)
Must get out for some more practice!
Cheers
Yes, the fixed paddles will be like the ones we have on my wife's Audi S4, fixed on the column, but I've never really found that a hardship. I see what you mean about changing up/down with the wheel hard over though...Maybe I could just grow a very long middle finger like an Aye-Aye[]
I have just called the OPC and asked about the MFSW, as that is really more important to me than the paddles and he says he has checked and it is no problem, as I explained that the MFSW is of greater importance and that I would gladly eschew the paddles in favour of that. He was very confident and says he has confirmed it so, great, loks like it can be done.[]
I have asked the question over the third year warranty and he will be letting me know very soon if I can purchase that at time of car collection.
Apparently there are quite a few changes occurring and PCGB are still getting their head around them hence not everyone knowing the answers straight away - seems a plausible explanation to me.

Now I'm even more confused.com! Firstly, the paddles are attached to, and rotate with, the wheel? They do on mine! The paddle wheel looks like this...
Do they have a different design of paddle wheel to incorporate the Multi Function? I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what you get!

In my manual cars the gear lever is reassuringly in the same place even when I turn the steering wheel!!
However, he is absolutely adamant that the MFSW will be in conjunction with the paddleshift.
Sorry for any confusion there.

Just like the PDK gear selector then! [8|]

Rob, sorry to go on but have just spoken (well e-mail actually!) to my man at Cardiff OPC and he says you can have MFSW or paddle wheel but not both together! So someone has got it wrong! I wanted the same as you but was told at the time the "computer says no!"
Hi tsCaptain
Hmm, this is a little concerning as I did ask the OPC brand manager to confirm and he said that he definitely had spoken to Porsche and they confirmed that it was possible.
I will ping him another e-mail now. He is an experienced chap so knows what he is doing, and I have no reason to doubt him. I even phoned him yesterday and he confirmed it on the phone after i asked him.
Agree - someone has to be wrong!
My only concern is that you don't end up with something you don't want! You said earlier that you would prefer the MFSW over the paddles if it came to a choice between the two. If, as your man says, it is possible to have both together then can he explain why it is not shown on the configurator as such? I have tried it every which way and, unless it is a special dealer only selection (like the lower rear apron painted option, for example), I can't get it to accept the two together!
And from a personal point of view is such a wheel is available I shall be a bit peeved!! Have you had a revised order form from the dealer showing this option? Have they given you the build date yet or has it been built already? Not long to wait now![8D]
As you say, this is a bit of a mystery! I believe it's the chaps day off today so hoping for an e-mail tomorrow. I did speak with him the other day and he seemed very confident, but then again, he only knows what he has been told and that might have been duff info.
I have pointed out that your OPC said it was not possible, and what concerns me a little is that the configurator will not allow them together either.[&:]
I have made it clear that if one has to be chosen, it is to be the MFSW, as the paddleshift I can live without, but the MFSW will be very handy (no pun intended).
I believe the car is being built, but I'm still waiting for a confirmed delivery date which he tells me he is chasing.
I'll let you know how I get on.....[]

Nice spec and colour combo.. white with black wheels looks great.. []
Enjoy!
What great taste you have....[] Lovely looking C4S there!
TSCaptain:
Well, finally got to the bottom of this saga today, after an e-mail from the senior Porsche manager at the OPC.
They have confirmed that cardiff are right and that the MFSW cannot be ordered in conjunction with paddle shift, so you had good info, mine less so!
As I will not be tracking the car and I can actually get on fine with the 'buttons' I have chosen the MFSW over the paddles. I just hope they sort it out in time as the production is imminent. I will use the MFSW quite a bit, rather than just the odd bit of ue with the paddles.
Anyway, thank for the heads up TSCaptain, as it will hopefully mean I will get the spec I want rather than what I'm given.
At least you will know that Cardiff were not telling you a porky....![]
And here endeth the saga..............[]
