Newbie Advise

I've lost count of how many Boxsters and Cayman I have driven, possibly 20 or so, and many of them new cars (Porsche demos cars). Every one of them has made some sort of ticking sound at idle, although funnily enough, no two of them have ever quite sounded exactly the same. The noise is more pronounced on some than others.
