Newbie on forum and Porsche 992 ordered

Interesting last few posts there gents. GT3 is not for me, too hard core for something that I want to use daily. In the last 3 years I've been to the Nurburgring 5 times with my BMW M4 Competition and it is a Mecca for GT3/GT3 RSs over there. I love the sound of them and clearly they're a bit of kit. However, having had many high revving N/A cars in the past, when I switched to Turbo cars, then I much preferred the latter. To feel the mid range punch no matter what gear you're in with a Turbo because of the increased torque is much better for daily driving IMHO. It also means you don't have to rev the nuts off it to hit that 'sweet spot'. Let me give you an example, prior to my M4 Comp, I had an E92 M3 which was a 4.0 V8. The E92 M3 didn't have much kick under 5K rpm, and if you happened to be in the wrong gear you could easily get embarrassed by a Focus ST up to a certain speed. The M4 Comp on the other hand, 3.0 Twin Turbo, no matter what gear you were in, it had masses of torque from 2k rpm onwards, and personally I prefer this. On a track, then obviously GT3 is the one to have.

I was considering a 991.2 GTS, even made some enquiries about some approved used cars, however, when I came across a 992 in the flesh and sat inside one, then the upgraded infotainment and interior won me over. Perhaps because I'm so used to the BMW iDrive systems, which according to many respected motoring journalists are the best systems out there, then I needed something close to that at least. Don't get me wrong, I still love the 991 and no disrespect to any 991 owners out there, but as much as I like the car to be driver focused, I do like the feeling of a high tech interior and for me paying the extra for a 992 is hopefully worth it. Reading some threads on here about interior rattles on the 992 scares me a little, but if I'm very honest it's no different to new Merc, Audi and BMW cars, they are all cutting back costs on quality these days to save the planet.

Hi Schuey
I do get your daily driver thing my current 991GTS is just a weekend toy and I purposely went for a lightweight (no sunroof/heavy seats etc.) with -20mm suspension & PDCC etc .. The sound/revs etc are great for a couple of hour blast ... a GT3 would be more of the same but is it worth another 50 grand I wonder ??...

I have had quite a few M3's & AMG's (even a Lotus Esprit turbo in 1987!) as daily drivers and there good but always feel heavy (not the lotus)

You seem quite motorsport minded so be sure to get your spec right but great fun deciding !!

Good luck and there is a 911 for every taste :ROFLMAO:
