Nitrous Kit bought...

Hi All :)
Just to let you know progress..

Just won an EBAY auction for a 100i kit (100 shot) which will make a good base kit to be added to.

Cost £295 inc postage and includes 11lb bottle (empty) and most other bits...it was fitted to a 924 S2..

I will also be fitting a bottle heater or heaters (if I go for twin bottles)

Also I am going to fit 2 rev-limiters and a progressive controller.

I will take some pics of the install if anyone is interested :)

All the best Brett :)

2 Rev limiters?

Very interested in photos [:)]

Cheers

Hi Pete :)

YES 2...

1...starts NOS when I want it to..revs wise...
2...stops NOS exactly when I want

Also if revs DROP (GEAR CHANGES ETC.. number 1 will cut it off)

The progressive controller will bring in BOTH NOS and fuel at certain percentages...to stop wheel spin (I have enough trouble with that at moment without NOS lol)

Hope this helps :)

Any more questions just ask :)

All the best Brett :)

Get it! That's next on my list, better chance of putting all that power down through two wheels, rather than just spinning up one. [;)]

Hi Dave :)

I have thought of it but...my reasoning is as follows...

1..Fit NOS..
2,..Dyno
3,..Get above 400 hp at engine end...
4,..Get above 100 mph at Pod
5,..IF 4 is not possible on launch...buy the widest wheels and rubber I can find...

To be honest..a little wheelspin is not a bad thing as long as you launch eventually...

Ever watched a Top Fuel rail ? If you can find a video on the net..and watch the launch in slow motion,,you will see the rears light up (spin) then grow up to 18 inches in size...

There are 2 advantages to this...
1, Higher terminal speed..as the tyes are BIGGER
2, Takes pressure off the clutch plates...although Top Fuel cars can run 7 plate centrifugal clutches ,they STILL break if you put too much HP directly through them..which is why if you look carefully at ANY Top Fuel cars transmission ,you will see a wrap around safety blanket cover...to contain the BITS if the tranny explodes....which they can do on a monotonously regular basis lol :)

So to summarise...if you got PERFECT TRACTION at the back...then personally I would expect something ELSE to break...:(

Also there are other tricks to give better traction if its really needed...traction compound etc etc...

All the best Brett :)

Hi all :)
Received the kit I bought today...
Contains..
1 x 11 lb Nitrous bottle with Power Valve
2 x Bottle mounting brackets (think quick release giant jubilee clips)
1 x long blue nylon pipe (from bottle to engine)
1 x Fuel solonoid (red)
1 x Nitrous solonoid (blue)
1 x micro switch (for under throttle pedal)
1 x fuel T piece (WONT BE USING as its for rubber fuel pipe)
1 x red push button for activation (wont be using as will be fitting a "Fighter Pilot" switch exactly the same as my WOT switch.
Other parts needed I have ordered today...
1 x Bottle pressure Gauge (not strictly needed but gives an idea of temperature from pressure reading)
1 x Machined fitting to fit on end of left hand fuel rail (remove 19 mm nut first)...Fitting will also have a spare outlet (blanked off) for future fitting of a engine Fuel pressure gauge if needed)
1 x pack of 10 olives and nuts (for all pipes as i prefer NEW rather than old fittings)
1 x metre red fuel line ( to replace old pipe)
1 x metre blue nitrous line ( to replace old pipe)
Cost of above inc carriage £98
Total cost so far...Kit second hand £295 + new parts £98 = £393...
Bottle to fill at around £5.50 per pound = £60
Next update...when I start fitting it :)
Any questions...just ask :)
All the best Brett :)

I've dragged my 928 lots of times at the pod, & the start line is it's down fall. I raced another S4 there who had LSD & he hammered me evey time, & good 2-3 car lengths by the finish line. Both cars identical in power but he had the upper hand as far as the launch went.

New picture of Machined collar (supplied by Jon Mitchell) that will replace the AAV Plate (Auxillary Air Valve Plate) on front of plenum to allow some lateral aiming of the Nitrous/Fuel nozzle into the plenum by turning on the side thread.

Hi All :)

I almost finished the NOS today...
Soooo...
Getting a "LOT" of help from "WIZARDS OF NOS" ...REALLY HELPFUL AND NICE PEOPLE :)
Very quick update as still working on car...
NOS fitted....ran static test on 50 HP jetting...then upped to 75 HP...
Then took for a test run.....
Now as you may know I NEVER swear on here so here are my impressions...
It was ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY ******* AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dyno tomorrow so more when I get back....but to give you a teaser....on my G-Tech..
WITHOUT NOS....14.3 @ 101 FOR STANDING QUARTER
WITH NOS...........13.2 @ 108 " " "
0 TO 60 without NOS = 6.1
0 TO 60 with NOS = 4.8
30 TO 90 without NOS =9.21
30 TO 90 with NOS =7.46

All the best Brett :)

Hi All :)

1..Dyno chart showing..71 hp increase on 75 hp jetting and 120 ft/lbs Torque increase !!!!!!

2..Mirror image (dont ask why lol) of NOS flames on overrun at approx 6000 revs....which is
exactly what happens when it pops at same time on road lol :)

Apologies for quality but the frame capture was only 18kb.

Will increase jetting to 100 hp this week and move to a colder plug (going to BP7ES from BP6ES)

Then will dyno again...

All the best Brett :)

Hi All

Another update...

Fitted 100 hp jets today...also discovered why my 75hp jets only gave 71hp (on dyno)...it was a 70 hp jet lol

Another bottle of NOS fitted..only got 9lbs into bottle (temperature low) so ONLY £49

Now thinking of either twin or quadruple bottles in back ....

All the best Brett
