No R19 news in Feb Porsche Post?

Don't shoot me I'm only the messenger. It is Fabien himself who suggests there was no reason given, the last part of my post was copied and pasted un-edited from his. I agree no-one is above editing, for any number of reasons, and I am always happy to resolve and yes even concede changes made by Mike R, to things I have written. Fabien seems to be suggesting a fait-a-complis. It would be unfair to both parties for me to suggest that he has taken exception to not being given a full explanation, because I have been told that he is working away from home and may not be in a position to communicate. You have to try to understand that to this passionate and keen Frenchman, it might seem like a form of persecution because of the other issue he was not happy (read incensed) about. I was actually going to ask at the AGM if the commitee could define their understanding of "with your annual event you are putting the whole PCGB under financial threats" so that we could all understand what a naughty boy Fabien had been by getting so much sponsorship that the event at the very least broke even, with the 2007 event looking to do even better than that. As I have said, being an ex-member does not preclude me from driving any of my Porcshes.

Well, my membership is up for renewal and if I dont get a substantial answer as to why TV is being cut I'm not sure I will renew. This is not meant anything against Fab as he does an excellent job but I want to know what is going on.

I read these forums but I guess there are 1,000's of TV members who don't.

They must be wondering, if they get involved in the region, what on earth is going on?

Are the monthly meets taking place still?

I have to say your name needs to be Sherlock to work out what is going on here if you are not in the loop.

924nutter - forgive me but you are missing the point entirely. What follows is not an attack on you - it is very much tongue in cheek.

No-one is supposed to make a profit from an event, raising money that could be ploughed back to further the club - no, not at all.

Take a look at the accounts; the usual suspects go on their jollies; Goodwood, NEC, Silverstone - haven't got the figures in front of me (left at work) - make big losses, gain 2 extra members each time, and try to justify their actions, what a farce!

More to follow from me in due course on the accounts, looks like Dennis is trying to improve matters but was censored [and this is where Nic censored me] and IMH (personal) O the minutes of the 2005 AGM do not paint Robin in a particularly good light. [OK now Nic?]
For me the club needs a branch and root overhaul. Requirements to stand as a director were out of date - so many years as an RO / RS (so known to the 'great and the good') - has this changed? Rules ignored for finance director role because they had to be.

Aaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Must stop, time for bed!

dp, I had crafted a nice reply but the server reset itself and timed me out. Don't you just hate that? [&:] Anyway, to save time I'm using bullet points this time as I've been typing for half an hour.
  • my point is that I can't see the financial threat if Basildon 2006 broke even, unless there is an issue with any excess funds being used in R19 budgets and not put into club coffers, which I guess would be a big no-no would it?
  • If there is no issue then the alegation is bizarre[]
  • I am not too big to admit to being wrong if I can be shown how I have misunderstood the term financial threats with respect to club business[8|]
  • I have demonstrated my Support for Fabien, the rest is up to him.[:(]
Fabien, should he choose to do so, can gauge the depth of support for him on this very forum and decide whether to continue as R19 R/O or not, for himself, as long as his fate as R/O has not ben predetermined, but as we say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

In reply to Jason, I gave a post, in the R19 section of the forum, the title of "Regionl Information," which directs members to the latest web page of the R19 section of the club website (not the forum,) wherein all monthly meeting information can be found, except perhaps a wallet health warning about the cost of a pint of beer and a sandwhich. I kid you not, a pint and a triple decker sandwhich ÂŁ9.90

Guys,

I have just sensored, yes censored a couple of words from above post as they were a personal attack.

You can rant all you like so long as it is within the Forum rules. No personal comments please.

Ahh thanks. Hope you guys get it sorted out for the good of ALL.

Fact remains we don't know what has happened to Fab, or any data re R19. Is Lesley still Deputy RO. I for one will be at the meet on Sunday, like a large number of contributors to this thread thought the club was for its members we just seem to have missed the pount over my last 10+ years of membership!

We all know that being an RO or indeed any organiser of events can be a thankless task as you can't please all of the people all of the time. Its been said elsewhere but I'll say it again Fab had bought a great deal of his French passion to R19 and its a real shame that we can't as one of the largest Regions take some advantage of that for our benefit.

Guys,
are we perhaps jumping the gun here. For all we know Fabien has other issues to deal with possibly nothing to do with this forum or the club. I don't know him that well but he does not strike me as the sort of guy who would just give up and disappear over the issues so far. I know he was pissed about his earlier report being censored but equally he was delighted with the support he received from his region so maybe we will have to wait for him.
Hopefully, not too long.

Second that query about membership renewal.
I've discovered impact bumpers which does seem a bit more relevent for the 3.2.

Just my tuppence worth........

Thats all right by me Nic. You know the rules better than me. In my defence I wasn't aware of making, or indeed intending to make any personal attack on anyone, but if it could be inferred as such or could be misconstrued in any way then by all means edit away, and proterct us from ourselves, no problem.

That's ok Nic, but as I have said, feel free to keep the forum within limits. As you can see I dont take offence and would have been satisfied to accept your good judgment if I had overstepped the mark.

Hi All

Nobody is questioning how hard anybody else is working! Just feeling sorry for Fab.

Lets hope it will settle down and he will return full of vigor and enthusiasm

Have fun

Paul, I think Steve might be inquiring as to whether we are aluding to a percvieved non support of our R.O.

It is interesting to note that despite all the fuss, and despite the Thames Valley region being the largest in terms of registered members, that, at last count, only 30 people had looked at my post directing them to the regional information on the club website, and that doesn't mean they followed the information up.

I'd moan about the lethargy but I can't be bothered.

Nutter
Would that be the same 30 that regularly turn up[ at our monthly events?

Not sure what's happended to the other 1570 (or there abouts)!!

When I get the PP I look at the 968 classifieds, the 968 reg section and TV regional report. In the last two PP there hasnt been a report for TV or the 968 register. Surely if the usual contributor can not provide a report it could be passed onto someone else?

It is a shame when the other regional reports are so complete and we have had nothing. Again, it is not a dig but when there are problems isnt that why deputies are in place? More reasons not to part with my renewal fee.

There is a deputy in place, me and I support Fabien. If he has decided on this course of action then I support him and have no intention of doing anything to undermine his stance.

Come to the meetings and find out from the horses mouth

Leslie -just out of interest, how many on this thread attend the monthly meetings???[&:]

Yes probably the same. I am on a mission with my new Cabriolet. It is at club HQ on display and has just finished being detailed. Now is as good a time as any to say that I won't be on the April run to Cornbury from the Bird in Hand as I am taking part in Front Runner, on the same Sunday and have to be at HQ by nine. I do hope that you know who will be in the convoy, but you rear engined guys get up too late for me.[:)] Of course our paths may cross during the day, let's hope the weather will be better than it has been of late. Give my regards the "le grenouille"
