North Yorkshire Moors weekend - Pickering

Hi Robin
The hole weekend looks great.
The Saturday route and location will be a good mixture for all.
Sunday Jane and my prefence wood be the route to the Beansheaf Hotel for coffee nice location and then onto the Crab & lobster for lunch
Regards Richard

Hi Robin, first of all Happy New Year to yourself and all in R8. It all sounds good, but as we live near York ,we will probably meet up at Designer Outlet (after dropping our son off at his grans in York) - if you could give me an approximate time. A reminder that Dalby Forest has a very interesting visitors centre, and Goathland is where the legendary (recently finished) Heartbeat series was filmed so a lot to see there and a couple of nice eating places for Sunday lunch. Also there is usually a steam train passing through if anyone interested (I could get their timetable as travel to this area a few times a week). Looking forward to a "relaxing" weekend without kids!! Regards, John and Jane

Well done Robin.

This looks great fun.

The third option for Sunday would be lovely as we saw diddly squat of the views on the last Yorkshire run - or should I say swim!

Can't wait!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your prompt replies.

I will provisionally reserve 8 covers for lunch at the Crab and Lobster to arrive at 1.30pm. There is ample car parking. The Crab books up really quickly!

John, I would think we should arrive at the Designer outlet centre about 10.45am.
Enter via the A19 and keep to the left. Do not enter the first car park but drive about 400 metres and then enter the rear car park on the right. After about 100 metres bear left and drive to the far left. This is the last area that fills up and should be clear to park our cars together.

We are really looking forward to the weekend also. Good company, good scenery, good City, good food,
brilliant cars!!!!!

Kind regards

Hi Everyone,

I have provisionally booked 16 covers at the Crab and Lobster for lunch on sunday. I can always cancel a few places if necessary.
Tables are booked for 1.30pm. Let me know asap if you do not wish to have lunch there due to other arrangements.

Kind regards

Hi Robin - put us down for the Sunday lunch.

From the A1 meet point I could take you on the 'back roads' - a more interesting drive. Route is off old A1 to Brotherton, Sherburn in Elmet, B1222 to Cawood and A19. What do you think ?

Regards - Randolph

Hi Randolph,

Thanks for the update. You are booked in at the Crab.
Regarding the trip from A1 to the A19 your rural route is much better.
I would much prefer a scenic route than a boring trip up the A1.
If you don't mind leading. Well done.

Kind regards

Hi Robin, looking forward to it. Include us for lunch please. We stayed at the Crab Manor Hotel several year's ago and the place is well worth a visit. If no-one has stayed here before, each room is based on a famous hotel room from around the world - see if you can have a look around the hotel if not too busy. Cheers, John

Hi John,

We have not stayed at Crab Manor although it looks super. We have eaten at the Crab and Lobster and had a lovely meal.
We also are really looking forward to the weekend.

Kind regards

I hope I'm not tempting providence here - but the weather forecast looks great for the weekend. I can't wait!

Hi Everyone,

Weather seems to be deteriorating by saturday, 4c and overcast! But we should still enjoy a great weekend all the same.

There will be 10 Porsche's travelling from the A1 to York.
20 eating at Spice4U.
9 Porsche's driving along the route on sunday.

Ian Simmonds a new member will be coming along for the weekend.
Jackie and Allan Gregory will be with us just on saturday, up to Specialist Cars at Malton.
Another couple joining us just for the meal on saturday.

It's hard to keep my finger on the pulse? I hope I have remembered everything!!!!!

Kind regards

A big THANK YOU to Maggie and Robin for organising a wonderful weekend.
Great food
Great roads
Great B & B
Great weather (how good was that?)
and Great company.
It was nice to meet John and Jane from R7 and new R8 members Ian and Kim
Sorry Maggie and Robin, but it was so good you will just have to do it all again - but different ! [;)]
See some of you at club night next Monday
Kerry and Tom

Thanks to all who attended and the friendly welcome to myself and Jane, it was great to meet some new people from another region. I must apologise for my constant coughing over the weekend but it has now erupted into a fever and tonsilitis so am off sick today (Monday) and will, hopefully , recover before the next great outing Robin. I must also pass on our regrets for missing the luch at the Crab and Lobster but, needing a comfort break in Thirsk centre, Jane noticed water under the car which turned out to be a leaking radiator. Needless to say, we finished our weekend on the back of a tow truck. Looking forward to the next one. John & Jane

Hi John,

It was a pleasure having you and Jane for the weekend away in Yorkshire. We all enjoyed your company.
And yes we are looking forward to seeing you again at another one of our trips up north.

Kind regards
