Wise words John, that worked for me with meetings in the south!JohnCR said:I would pick a date and a location and just see who turns up. Any location will be too far for some, but we can always try somewhere else the next time.

GordonT said:I've already expressed my interest above and, although the Carding Shed looks like a really interesting meeting point, I think Hawes would be preferable on this occasion to maximise numbers. The Wensleydale Creamery (https://www.wensleydale.co.uk/visit/) has been very helpful in the past (including R3's WOTY last year) in providing a section of their car park. In addition to a sizeable café they have, as you may see, their cheese sampling room with a significant number of cheeses to try. It would be a case of each region devising their own route(s) to get there but then I'm sure R3 (Gronk!) could come up with the details for a group run to Tan Hill.
The Creamery, I knew it was somewhere like that but couldn’t remember if it was Kirkby Stephen or Hawes way.
So can I suggest the following
- Each region picks a meeting point with the aim of assembling 10:30 - 11am in Hawes for coffees (the Creamery https://www.wensleydale.co.uk/visit/ as suggested?) Do we think that is a practical time to meet up?
- Leave Hawes 11:30 for a route TBC over the dales and the Buttertubs Pass (https://youtu.be/d96JHklmO6I).
- We see if the Tan Hill Inn (https://www.tanhillinn.com/) can accommodate a group for Sunday lunch around 1pm?
- After lunch make our way back thru the dales home as groups or individually
Regards a meeting point for those in R3, A1 Durham Services tends to work for those traveling North > South, we can also stop off again Scotch Corner services and meet anyone travelling from South of R3 or even the North of R7. We can decide what route to take to Hawes nearer the time when we have a better idea of timings.
If that works we need someone (I’m happy to be on point for R3, Paul are you OK for R5?) in each regions to drum up interest and the most difficult part....a date!
I suggest that we allow a round of club nights where it can be added to the agenda, taking us realistically to sometime in March where at least the weather is getting more spring like (the Buttertubs & Tan Hill Inn are both pretty high). To get things started I’ll throw 29th March in the hat which is a few weekends before Easter so the caravans may not yet be out, or is that too early and we should look April onwards?
I noted on a Facebook forum that one region had a WhatsApp group for ad-hoc drives out, if people are happy sharing phone numbers with me (via PM rather than public forum) I’m happy to set one up that may make things a little easier to arrange, especially on the day itself!
Not precious over any of this, just thought I’d get a something proposed we can then finesse....over to the forum!

@GJH_987 lets not be too hasty the 29th was only a suggestion as it missed Easter and wasn't too far in the future....you've been up for this from the start of the thread we shouldn't disregard those on already wanting to support, 5th April is a week later does that work for you?GJH_987 said:sounds like a plan is coming together. I’m at the R6 meet next Wednesday and will promote the idea. Unfortunately 29th March I’ll be out of the country which is typical so wouldn’t be able to make this one.
If you are in the seat for R6? If so that would give volunteers in the regions as below
R3 - Gronk1967
R5 - Paul_Grundy
R6 - GJH_987
R18 - ?
R22 - ?
R30 - ?
Any volunteers to evangelise in the missing regions (I know R30 is a longshot)
@Paul_Grundy got your PM I'll set up the WhatsApp group and add us both...
If any others in the thread have a date preference please add to the post. It appears that we have a run of regional meets in the next week (R3 meets too) that we can use to publicise, would be good to have a date set amongst ourselves we can use vs. something more vague for those regional meetings. The Register Director is a member of R3 too, I'll mention to him and see what if any support we could ask for from the club.
Once we have decided on a date should we start a new thread that puts the meet details as 1st post and ask those interested to sign up?
Lets keep the momentum up and make this work!

I thought I’d get numbers over next few weeks then give them a call....thanks for the offer to call in if necessary

Can anyone expressing an interest in joining us be mindful not to resurrect this thread over the newer one?
