Northern 'Rollers of Truth'?

appletonn

New member
I fancy getting my old bus onto some rollers to see just how many horses have run away over the years - in theory it should be putting out circa 300 bhp and 320lb/ft torque with the mods, but I suspect some might be slightly lame american horses...[8|][;)]

So, for the second time of trying [8|], does anyone fancy joining me for a power run, probably at http://www.tdi-north.com/ as they are 50 yards from Unit 11, should anything go amiss?!

If I can get 6 cars, they will give us a discount rate - still to be confirmed.

Can they cope with more than six [;)]

Once you get one or two respondants the floodgates might open if the previous 944 Dyno Days are anything to judge it by [8D]

Hi Nick

I am definately up for it.
Let me know the dates you were thinking,
once any numbers start coming in.

Cheers

Nick,

Could be a fun way to spend a Saturday morning, any idea on cost?

I've spoken to them and subsequently sent them an email asking for costs, based on 6-8 cars.

Once I have some answers, will post them up here!

Come on Mike (Berg944) get your name down with your green meany!!!

It's time to stand up [:D][:D][:D]

Need to see what is lurking in your bonnet too.......

OK, here's the response from TDi North:

Hi Nick

We usually like to get the rolling road sessions done on a Saturday; this makes it easier for everyone.

You're looking at £35 per car, each getting 2 runs and a print out of the Power and Torque figures.

The Air/Fuel ratio will NOT be measured during the runs, although we can offer this service at an additional cost. (Sensors are expensive you knowJ)

Unfortunately, we are fully booked on Saturdays until 4th July. We do have some timeslots available in June, 10th and 12th being afternoon sessions; the 11th can be either morning or afternoon.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Lou

So I need the names of 6 interested parties and I'll get it booked and give them a deposit.

Ideally I need names, cars inc any modifications. Shall we go for 4th July, or does anyone have any burning reason for a different date?

Cheers

Nick,

Good work, alas the June dates class with Le Mans and the 4th July date is no good for me. Don't let that stop it
though. I am sure there will be other Northern rollers of truth for me to attend.

Hmm, you've got me thinking now Nick - I could have my belts and rollers all done for then (If JMcNulty gets back to me ref tensioner tool), so I could be up for bringing mine - it even just about fits in with the budget too [;)]

Not quite sure what stage of repair my sills will be in, but it shouldn't stop me running. I've even fitted my new steering wheel last night, so I think I've gained a few horses there [:D]

Mike

Hi Nick

I can do the 4th July. 11th July is PCGB Blenheim Show, not sure if I will go to that and I could probably do the 18th July too.

Let us know your thought

Lee

Here is latest response from TDI:

Hi Nick.

Yes we can get you in on the 18th. It will usually take 2-3 hours. We would like to have all cars here for 10.00am if that's ok with you.

Regards

Lou

So, I shall reserve the 18th July tomorrow - 10am start and make sure your cars have plenty of oil and water in them!

So do i have 4 definites thus far?

Lee, Peter, Mike and myself?

Any others?!

Might want a £10 deposit from you all, just to ensure that everyone turns up on the day and I don't end up out of pocket! [;)]

Not wishing to put a damper on things but Rick will only accept figures from DynoDynamics rollers as being eligible for his power table.

Also, I would be reluctant to run without AFR and, indeed, have opted not to in the past because of this.

Aside from John's comments, I'd also suggest a different company if you wish your results to actually mean something. I'm not saying anything directly as they have a habit of taking forums to court.

Hi Nick

Right I have another option.

On the Wirral AKA " The Leisure Peninsular ", resides a DYNO DYNAMICS Rolling Road.
This will also measure AFR, so come on Mr Sims drag your car up North[:D]

http://www.dynodemon.co.uk/home.php

I have just spoken to the guy there and he can do the following dates and was also very helpfull.
Tea and Coffee would be laid on, food could be sorted at extra.

Any date in June other than the 6th is free. 25th July is also free.

6 to 10 cars = £45 plus VAT
10 plus cars = £40 plus VAT

So any thoughts and anymore numbers if it where on a DD Rolling Road???

Cheers

Lee
ps Some lovely pubs and B & B's with Chester's beautiful city a stone throw away.
Bring the missus drop her off on the way shopping and come along to Neston for car fun[:D]

Right, any Saturday in June will do for me - so how about the first Saturday after Le Mans weekend, to allow Peter to come along?

So Saturday 20th June then:

1. Lee (Lemon)
2. Nick (Appleton)
3. Will
4.
5.
6.

Anymore, we need 6 plus to even get this going[:D]
