Northumberland 250 - Anyone fancy it? - FINAL DATE TUESDAY 3rd AUGUST

Philip Morris said:
Form completed 24th June & submitted, odd!

Do you want me to do it again?

thanks, Phil
Hi Phil, sorry my mistake looking again I’ve got your details…No need to fill in the form again.

Thanks

Apologies everyone for being a little quiet since confirming the date unfortunately I’ve been a little preoccupied with work. Aiming to get

something out to everyone over the weekend.

Let’s hope we keep this weather 🌞

Hi Simon(Gronk?) just had a quick look at the rout map and noticed it includes the Kielder Toll Road. I don't know if you've done this before but we won't want to be going through here in Porkers!!!! Just a thought.

Speak soon.

Yes, well spotted! I did 2/3rds of it last year and we diverted around it 👍🏻

yes - I was wondering about that. it'd be better to carry on beyond Keilder village and into Scotland. (Last time I did this I ended up catching a pristine 356 and a 2.7 RS!!!)

The other dodgy bit of the route is Blanchland to the Rookhope valley via Hunstanworth... that's a very narrow road: it's also a bus route!! Better to head down to Stanhope (fabulous road) and then up Weardale to Rookhope?? IMHO

can't make the date unfortunately :(

Just over a week until our planned Northumberland 250 run on Tuesday 3rd August, I‘’ve just sent everyone who said they planned on taking part a message to confirm I have the correct contact details etc.

I’m just trying to finalize the itinerary around the Holy Island tides and an alternative to the Kielder toll road and plan to share this with those who are taking part no later than Wednesday 28th.

I’ve also created a few further questions to help me with the smooth running of the day that I’d appreciate everyone completes. It should no longer than 30 seconds. If anyone reading this has only just spotted the run and would like to take part, please add to this post and fill the questionnaire above along with the original questionnaire LINK: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ShareFormPage.aspx?id=DQSIkWdsW0yxEjajBLZtrQAAAAAAAAAAAAO__cg8dbtUMzE4NTJHNjNXSjA5STM3SkNRUDMyRkZPWi4u&sharetoken=G8rU9DROa5ji3fiYqYR2

I’ve read recently that another heatwave is due to begin on the 2nd of August so hopefully we’ll have a scorcher and fantastic weather on the day.

If anyone expecting to be part of the run and hasn’t received a SMS or WhatsApp from me by now, can you drop me a PM so I can check the details i have for you.

Hi Simon

Are there still places available for this - we were on holiday when I saw the post.

I could possibly be tempted if I knew a bit more like itinery (I know the route is the route but estimated times at each stop-off), initial meeting time & point. I'm assuming it would be an all day thing (250 miles) which may be a problem as we couldn't leave our dog that long.

It would also mean changing my working day which wouldn't be an issue.

If I know a bit more, I will let you know one way or another

Cheers

Trevor

Hi Trevor, I’m sure everyone already coming would agree when i say more the merrier and you would make it a nice even 10 cars.

Aiming to meet for coffee/breakfast from around 9am and hit the road no later than 10am. As you say the route is pretty well publicised and the plan is do the route counter clockwise so we catch the tide and are able to cross the causeway to Holy Island.

After doing 2/3rds of the route on a previous run I’d say we’d be back at the start 7-8pm depending on stops But there is the option to break away when we cross the A69 and miss the lower 3rd of the route (what i did the last time).

So we don’t fall foul of any rules the meeting point isn't being publicised in the forum, but if you are interested drop me a PM.

Thanks for the prompt reply Simon.

As much as I would love to, it is a full day so our dog would be a problem so I'm going to have to say no.

Very frustrating as my car only managed just over 1,000 miles last year due to our European road trips being cancelled last year and now this year.

Hope you have a great day & the weather is kind

Great stuff…will get your added and catch you up on the days details 👍🏻

Can I take the opportunity to thank the 10 cars & drivers (& the couple of passengers) who joined me on this run yesterday.

Apart from the unexpected crowds @ Bamburgh I think we had a brilliant run and we were all able to enjoy our amazing cars on some most brilliant (& mostly empty) roads our region can offer.

Clockwise next time?

Thoroughly enjoyed it Simon & thanks for organising. A brilliant route, great crowd, great weather & sorry I had to miss the bottom bit. Clockwise might just work if we start early enough! Weekdays work better for me owing to weekends being taken up with other things.
