not even a wave

Big Geoff,
If you were in a red 944 lux with bridge spoiler, you missed all the attention your car got from our members [:)]! If you dont own that car (and it was the only Porsche we saw at the services) we missed seeing you. One of the other committee members was driving his Red 944 Cabriolet. My ladies 944 s2 was not at Exeter because we took my 911 as we were all on a convoy drive over Exmoor that day and she had been on night duty. If you had looked at our regions posting you would have been welcome to join us as the timings were there. We have many 944's and watercooled models and everyone gets flashed or waved who drives a Porsche of any vintage.
Dont despair there is no snobbery in our region [8|]

[&:] You will note i also have a 944 !!!!!!

You think you get ignored in 944's, you should try a 924!! I have had a 924S for many a year and for the most part get ignored by all Porsches, except when they can't shake me off and if I meet up with them later get a comment ' didn't realise they were that fast'!!

Just take consolation from the fact that if it wasn't for the 924 and 944 the rest of them would not be able to have the later, up market, models because Porsche Cars would have not existed. It was only saved by our more affordable models.

This is starting to become a slightly disappointing post [:(]

We have a post like this every now and again, but over the years I definately detect that less of us are waving to eachother. We must make a concerted effort to get the cameraderie back on track. In fact I propose we follow home any grumpy non waver and refuse to leave their premises until a wave is forthcoming (or until the stalker police arrive [:D] )

Tracey & I have been along to a few SW Region events & meetings whilst we were in Plymouth visiting family. They have always been very friendly towards us & no snobbery was shown at all towards our S2 Cab. in fact we now only need mention our "Burgundy Cab" and they remember who we are.

I got a wave and a head light flash from a 911 whist on holiday in France. Probbably because I was on the wrong side of the road????????

I get more waves back from 924/44/68s than I do from 911s because most 911s you see are new and (most of) the drivers of newer cars don't seem to be enthusiasts. Sad, but their loss.

Just been down south for weekend and I have to report a really poor wave-back ratio.

It's a north-south divide!

I got a wave and a head light flash from a 911 whist on holiday in France.

It was probably a mistake.

911 drivers are instructed not to wave to water cooled front engined models at the time of purchase.

I know I should not be saying this, but, I feel it is my duty to do so. It has always been an unwritten rule not to fraternise with the owners of lower and less speedy and doubtless inferior models in case they some day become owners of the true models included in the 911 range throughout the years.

It is also true that we are all warned off speaking to or even looking at Gay Men or Peppers. I, personally, never understood these particular warnings, but I try my best to stick to them, especially if in certain back streets in Manchester or vegetarian restaurants.

As for flashing, I think I have covered this above, or near enough.

SO, STOP TRYING TO JOIN IN WITH US! KEEP TO YOURSELF! AND WE CAN ALL CARRY ON ENJOYING LIFE TO THE FULL.

PS - Please do not reply to this post if you are not the owner of a 911 as I will be forced to ignore it. You have been warned.

Lads I dont know what it is but if I take my 944 or 924 out for a spin all Porsche drivers wave back...No Exceptions. I cant remember ever being ignored. Even the Cayenne drivers wave... and the other day a "hairdresser" with a cravat in a Boxter waved to me..... TBH thinking back maybe he fancied me [:'(][:'(]

As i have always felt. A porsche is a Porsche regardless of what model or what year they are. Indeed there will always be opinions on what models we class as a reall Porsche and whats not but if it has the badge then it deserves a wave. As i have also owned a 944 and now have a 911 i feel more inclined to wave at bothe. If i am honest tho i never do at boxsters, mainly because most people that own them are rarely fanatics and they just buy them as a nice new convertable (hairdressers car) hmmm...Porsche. I think this also goes for most modern Porsches as classics are rarer they tend to be appreciated more.

That's funny. I always thought that 911's and 944's were available in convertible form.
Well I'm obviously mistaken. The only convertible is apparrently the Boxster. And in spite of there being 1500 or so in the club, none of them are enthusiasts.

Well well well...

No offence intended to boxster owners just the general impression i get out on the road thats all. They are probably one of the most popular Porsches as a modern car but due to the ammount seen out i find them less desirable.
Just not my cup of tea thats all.

A good 'tongue in cheek' posting by someone who probably speaks with a Brummie accent even though they don't type with one. I can only assume that the 'tongue' was in someone else's lower 'cheek', [;)]
I'm allowed to reply to this posting 'cos' I do have a proper Porsche as well as two inferior type models.[:)]

Cheers,

Are water-cooled rear-engined models not somehow worse?

Come to think of it that is a very small portion of Boxster owners really

Definately I will wave at them all regardless......! I would say going back 20-25 years you would have found that the 944/924 owners were in the same predicament as Boxster/Cayman owners find themselves in now. I wonder if 356 and 70's 911 owners waved to the 944/924 crew.....[&:]

I know a few Boxster/Cayman owners and they are enthusiasts through and through. Mad for the runs and meets.....

Lets just all have manners and wave at your fellow Porsche owners - NO EXCEPTIONS [;)]

Definatly well said, I always wave (except for if I was a bit slow reacting) and it get's really annoying the amount of Porsche owners who don't wave, even some 944 owners won't so if we all return the wave it will be lot nicer and some people on the road who think we're all a bit of a jumped up tit of a Porsche driver might start to think we aren't so ignorant (some do think that[&:])
