Several Londoners have asked about doing their first Track Day/Sessions, having spoken to Steve Kevlin at the NEC this could be done for genuine Novices, subject to a required number to make it happen, about 40 required. The session would be after the main day on track as advertised .... Briefing 5pm and Track time 6pm until 8pm which could be open pit lane with a limited number of cars on track.

This is an ideal opportunity to get a taster without being intimidated by fast seasoned drivers and out with like minded Porsche Drivers. This I feel is a long overdue opportunity to get some would be future "Race Drivers" or just fun Drivers for the future. I'm sure the cost will be very reasonable as the Club would be encouraging a lot of repeat future Members enjoying their Porsche as it was intended.

Instruction would be available, and would have to be pre-booked. Passengers as always welcome ........ I'm sure R20 will have a social meet afterwards at the Local Country Pub on the way home. Only 10 minutes from the M25 this is a fantastic opportunity to anyone in the Sout East.

Knowing the Massive enthusiasm of R20 I'm sure the names will flow. I would think MOST of your insurance companies will cover this event, please check, it is a CLUB PORSCHE GREAT BRITAIN run event ...... great way to introduce yourself to the real World of Porsche Driving ... you will learn that your Porsche is more than a road car ....... Anyone interested post below ... Date June 2nd Brands Hatch, turn up well before drivers briefing at 5pm, time to check the car over and off on circuit at 6pm for two hours of the best fun you have ever had in your Porsche. Convertibles will need a close face helmet, they are available for hire.

I would confirm again we need the numbers for Steve to make this happen, why not two drivers in the one car, only a very little more, yourself and partner .... [:)]

Hi Des, This is an excellent proposal and hopefully we will get enough novice takeup to get this going. If it is okay, I'll copy and paste your note (cc you of course) to all the ROs in the South East and RSes (especially the modern one 997, 996, Boxster, Caymans who would have quite a few members on the list up for their 1st trackday). Are you coming along to Ace this Saturday?

Kish go for it ... need names and commitment, can you make this a R20 led event to give it the Full Appeal .... I am just the messenger trying to help all those members who have expressed an interest over the years to do 1st Tarck Sessions .... Can I see your names: Afterwards have a Curry, debrief, Pint, BBQ, Whatever ....... Kish Hirani Karl Rodney PS. Ace difficult, maybe if my boys 6 & 8 will put up with noise it is evening? What time?

I agree. A track evening is a great way for anyone to have a taster without the out and out expense of a full day. It is less to gamble relative to the weather and evening weather is often the best in our maritime climate. It is a long enough time to start to learn the track but (for a newbie) unlikely to generate sufficient strains to concern a road car. If you haven't done a track day before, own a Porsche and live in the area I would suggest it is a "must do" of the highest order. Big smiles are an option but few manage to resist. [:D]

Count me in, sounds great. (my membership has recently been renewed so I am a PCGB member [:)] ) Gavin

I'm certainly interested, having never done a track day before, and not having any pressure to keep up with the guy in front might mean a bit less stick on me tyres! Am hoping to get a course in at either the Silverstone centre or Millbrook before, though.

Rick so you are coming to play too, someone else can take pictures of you ....good response so far, hopefully Kish will get this into Porsche Post maybe in it's own right, well Said John S .. this is the only way to start and even if it's a one (I doubt once you have) off a shed load of FUN! And yes discover the real Porsche you have been driving on our drab Camera infested roads ....

Des, Put me down on the list too. I've never had the Butzi car on the track so it's time to see, hear and feel it come into it's own. Do you know the noise limits for Brands? Thinking I'll need to put the original zorst back on for a while. Rich

Good response after only a few days .... we should hopefully get the required numbers well before June nearly six months away ... maybe even a reserve list!

ORIGINAL: eastendr
ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Yes Please Can you put our names down. Cliff & Tracy Wilkins
Will Tracy be 'borrowing' something for the event ? [:D] [:D] Thought i might try our 4x4 truck! Seriously though we will have to check the noise level on Cliff's GT3 as it has a sports exhaust. May have to use the Boxster unless OPC can find me a nice little number. Tracy

Kish how about a little social afters? It should be warm and late light .... lots of local Country Pubs ... good food and Beer for those NOT driving[8D] More numbers needed..
