Novice Track Evening Brands is Back 20th May!

ORIGINAL: carreraboy Kish how about a little social afters? It should be warm and late light .... lots of local Country Pubs ... good food and Beer for those NOT driving[8D] More numbers needed..
Yes, this would be great; lets gets the minimum numbers required for this to go ahead first but please do post venues for those who know the area well...

Track to increase ability and confidence - beer at minimum consumption - remember the drink-drive laws, folks. Police see a Porsche and want to check everything out if they can on any excuse - and the last thing you will want is a visit to the 'home' of Mr Plod or to have to appear in one of my natural environments - a Magistrates' Court.

[:D]I did say above Juliany get a partner to drive mate ... but well pointed out, a few couples coming![:D]

As this is for novices,I don't feel too embarrassed to ask advice on helmets -I always hate the stinky communal ones at karting events. Is just any approved motorcycle helmet acceptable? Is full face or open face better? - or is it down to personal preference? Thanks in advance.... Jon

Hi Jonno Re helmets, I believe the following to be correct : In the event of an accident it is kind of re assuring if you are wearing the best quality helmet you can find. If you decide to have no accidents, then the criteria is simpler. Track day rules do not insist on FIA certified helmets to be worn so a motorcycle helmet is fine , don't catch fire however. The most important elements of a borrowed helmet are a] that it has never been dropped or damaged in any way b] that it fits and is as light and comfortable as possible and doesn't resrict head movement or periferal vision. You have a coupe, so full face helmet not so important as in a roadster, still possible to lose your teeth though. Full face probably affords more protection, and open face lighter with better vision. Most helmets for bikes full face. The club helmets are actually quite decent, though a bit of a faf trying to find one that fits when suffering tightening of the trouser muscles prior to strapping in and driving out onto the circuit. You need to wear long sleeves and trousers, no shorts, race shoes good and make sure no loose items in the car. Prepare car as advice given elsewhere, get some early instructor laps in ,and bobs yer uncle. See you there. John

Des Is this now a firm arrangement? Got the helmet - just the insurance cover to sort out! - might bring the servicing forward as well. That way I'm ready for Le Mans too. How exciting... Jon

We now have an excellent quorum of interest which I will convert qwith Steve Kevlin when I get back to the UK so 99% certain this will happen ... a long overdue event IMHO ... [:)]
