Novice Track Evening Brands is Back 20th May!

ORIGINAL: carreraboy Need to absorb the above reply from the R20 Organiser take at least 1000 steps back collect myself ....... goodnight :p
Request from Steve Kevlin... he has had a lot of experience in organising such days; unfortunately if you did not go for the specialist Insurer (only a handful do) then most insurer will NOT cover you for a trackday... better to know now than to cancel at the last minute don't you think? [8|]

Spoke to Steve Kevlin this morning just to iron out the misunderstanding from Kish. Also got a very positive update in an email from Steve this afternoon. Basically regarding the concern of Insurance as I did mention before check with your Insurers way ahead. It is a Porsche Club GB organised Day and you may have cover or if not you can adapt your policy. It is your first Track Day and emphasise it is a"Novice Only Day" there should not be any real problems. Steve Kevlin has kindly offered his direct line to anyone who wants to chat or help it is 01608 652917 insurabce in this modern age is fickle for very experienced track day warriors.... Now the update.... In the words of Murray Walker ... WE ARE GO GO GO ........ £180.00 An entry, need to get additional driver quote should not be much more. Sign on from 5pm with Briefing very important 6pm - 8pm Novice Track Day Session 35 Needed so just a few more, think another 10 .. pass the Word. 8pm - 10pm debrief bul*8it etc over a pint/lemonade etc TBC

Where/when/who the cheque? I know I won't have any insurance problems (although I will still be ringing them) as I'm with Porsche/Marsh/Norwich Union.

Steve will produce a Novice form shortly, but we DO need 35 takers but good start so everybody else get your money ready! Don't Forget Hot/Siting Laps with Melv "Cup Car Experience" not to be missed .. first come first served a very generous offer and it's FREE[:)]

Thanks for chasing this up Des and the 55 - £295 stated to me was for a full trackday session, so sorry for the confusion but Steve has stated this is a special one off which will allow for 2 hours track time between 6pm and 8pm, with Driver Signing-on from 5.00pm, plenty of time for a novice to have some track fun and experience. The drivers would be separated into groups and the available time ‘sessioned’ to reduce numbers on track at any one time. This reduces the chances of drivers feeling ‘under pressure’ while on track – especially important for those new to track days and ensures the time on track is controlled. This has been pencilled in the evening of Tuesday 2nd June, following on from a full normal trackday there. Also, the number stated i.e. 01608 652917 is the club office number to get hold of Steve, so please ring during normal working hours and he or someone can help you with insurance policies which include cover for Club members on Porsche Club Track Days.

I'm definately on for this. I'm booked to do Spa on the 15th so this will be good practice. Only thing I haven't got sorted is the insurance, might have to move to a new provider who offer track cover, any suggestions? Also, I'll be up for the Cup Car Experience if that's alright [:)]

Well done Jon ... could someone do us a favour and copy and paste the entry form here for The Novice Session please in an open format .....[8|] Jon Did you get a price from Steve for an extra Driver?

First ever ‘Novice Track Event’ for Porsche Club members. Since the publication of the Club’s first list of Track Days for 2009, we have now confirmed a date with Donington Park circuit for Monday 6th July. We were unable to get a Sunday as originally hoped, but in order to keep costs down our 2009 event will run as a quiet day. This means that 997 GT3’s and other ‘noisy’ 911’s will not be able to attend this event due to noise. In addition, we will be running our first ever event for Track Day novices – largely due to demand from Club members and specifically thanks to Des Sturdey !! This event will be an evening at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit and will follow on directly from our full day on the circuit on Tuesday 2nd June. Signing on will be from 5.00pm, with the track being open for 2-hours between 6.00 and 8.00pm. We have run evening events in the past at Brands Hatch where they have proved to be very popular, but they were for a mix of drivers. This event will be for Novice Track Day drivers and to reduce pressure on these less experienced drivers it will be run in sessions and with only 35 cars on the event. This will limit the number of cars on track at any one time and allow for a more relaxed time for all drivers. Instruction will be available to allow drivers to make the most of their track time and improve their understanding of how to get the best from a Track Day. Below is an updated list of the dates for 2009 to include these two new events which are shown in Red. These dates are now all confirmed and if you wish to participate in any of these events, please get your bookings in fast, as the first few days of the year are filling quickly. Please note also that we had incorrectly listed the first date as 21st March and it is actually 14th March[/b]. This year’s Silverstone Grand Prix circuit day is approximately 4 weeks after what is scheduled to be the last British Grand Prix held at the circuit. In a departure from previous years, it will link in with elements of the ‘Human Performance’ programme at the Porsche Driving Experience based at the circuit. We will have a day at Croft in North Yorkshire on 19th August. This will once again be supported by local specialist Porsche operation, Strasse. Our Oulton Park day will once again take place on the first day of the circuit’s ‘Winter rates’ allowing us to offer that day at reduced price. The weather tends to be very good at that time of year with the extra benefit that circuit hire costs are reduced, with the saving being passed on to the members. Our Goodwood days will continue with just 25 cars booked on the day and the Castle Combe days with just 35 cars. This has proved to be popular as it allows for more track time, despite the slightly higher cost per head. Five of our days this year will be on Saturdays. All of our days – apart from Goodwood, Castle Combe and the Brands Hatch ‘Novice Evening’ – will be run ‘Open Pitlane’. So, aside from the first hour of the day when drivers will be grouped according to track day experience, drivers will be able to go on track when they choose, subject to the number of cars on track. This type of day is very popular with the membership, as it allows for the potential of lots of track time and a relaxed day. Four of our Castle Combe dates will be run to the higher noise limit of 105dbA (normally 100dbA). This higher limit will also apply to all other venues, (except Donington Park, which is governed by a drive-by test), on all dates shown - (see notes below the list of dates). We are able to send Track Day dates to those who request them, by e-mail. The 2009 dates have already been mailed to those on the mailing list. If you would like to receive any future updates by e-mail, just forward your e-mail address to trackdays@porscheclubgb.com, Recent additions are shown in Red.
