I have been looking into the history of my 944 lux in nautic metallic and was wondering if any past owners may recall it

original plate E735 TCL
others include
A4 ONG
E304 NWK
A11 HCF

At some point this was badged as a 944S buti was just wondering why?

Still has ventiler side stripes on it but now no S badge.

hope to hear from people about my lady which was restored in 2007, see website.

Probably coz it made it look more expensive! [&:]

Mine had a plastic Turbo badge glued on the NSR, presumably by the same guy who fitted the teardrops and toastrack. It was indistinguishable from a genuine turbo.....[8|]

Paul,

If yours has a toastrack fitted as a later part, what would it have had originally?

Oli.

Nothing - the toastrack was the optional extra on Luxes (Luxi?), the usual 2-part one was standard on S2/turbo. I'll take a pic of one with no spoiler and post it.

Interesting - nothing at all?

Not sure that I have seen one with nothing on the back. It would look a bit ... odd, surely?

Yep, you can see the spare wheel well, etc. Same as a 924. My neighbour's is away at the moment but will take a pic.

When they were new very few series two cars had any rear spoiler. The original slotted valence was discontinued as an option in 1986...

Mine has a 968 rear spoiler, two piece underspoiler and teardrop mirrors so a bit of a mix.

ps any info on previous owners?

It had a complete glass out respray under insurance due to vandalism by Arlingtons of Northampton when they were the local OPC

Well, I wouldn't take it to them if they vandalised it! [8|][:D]

Found this when I was looking for Cobalt Blue cars just now.

Interesting, thanks.

Definitely looks like it needs something there. Looks too high at the back without it.

does it have split rear seats ? there was a limited special edition of a few 944S 2.7 16 valve types which had different bumbers, split rear seats and the side decals and a few other bits and bobs .There is a picture and some text about it in one of my books. I'll look it out tonight. It has been posted on here before about a year or so back

Really?

I thought that the S had a 2.7 engine, but was corrected a while ago on here ad told it had a 2.5 - same as in the Lux.

So there have existed the following models:

2.5 8v Lux
2.7 8v Lux
2.5 16v S
2.7 16v S
3.0 16v S2
2.5 8v 220bhp Turbo
2.5 8v 250bhp Turbo

Is that correct?

Oli.

There certainly wasnt a 2.7 16v car. If you give it a little thought: how could there have been (clue: different block)?

It's not April already is it...?![;)]

I have read many Porsche books and never read about a 16v Turbo model, limited or otherwise.

That car isn't even on the 16" turbo rims and I doubt the standard 15" teledials would fit over the Turbo's bigger brakes?
