I suppose a very small amount of fluid goes a very long way in drip form.
Starter is off, new slave ordered along with a new bolt to hold the starter on as it only had one!
Hopefully it will be an easy job to whip it out, replace and bleed on Sunday.

If it is the slave as predicted, where is the cheapest place to get a replacement? i have a Euro car parts near me but they don't have the slave on their site...

I'm probably going to do both master and slave at the same time seeing as i'll be bleeding the system etc.

think i'll be ordering from somewhere online and just not really use the car for a few days or accept i have to flick my clutch up with my foot if i do need to use the car.

May I suggest that whilst you've got the system apart invest in a new flexi hydraulic hose from the master to the the hard pipe (they join just at the back of the cam cover). My started to fail after 20yrs worth of heat from the exhaust.
BTW, changing the clutch slave cylinder on a S2 will be much easier than a Turbo as there's significantly less pipework and heatshields down below.
As per previous post, Clarks is very useful but they often fail to mention the RHD vs LHD differences on the cars, this is one of the major ones where LHD 944's have a shared Brake and Clutch reservoir. If you look closely at your Brake reservoir from the front of the car on the RHS is 'branch' that has a sealed pipe on the end = feed for the clutch.
Good luck - it is despite all said actually very straight forward to do both cylinders. One tip is, if you're struggling for access to get at the pedal box (depends on your stature) whip out the drivers seat ( 6 x 6mm hex bolts) and this gives you a lot more space.

A few differences - obviously its all on the wrong side and that their clutch and brakes share a reservoir but ours don't.
