Oil Pressure

Hi, I have just picked up my first Porsche (997.2) and drove it 400 odd miles from Scotland to London on Monday.

This morning (Friday) when I took the car out to drive approx 7 miles I got a message confirming the Oil is Low.

My question, as a novice is, how much Oil do 997.2 consume and how much Oil should I top it up with?

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Thank You.

All three we have owned or own haven't used any between services but others report higher usage. From memory I think the Porsche limit in the Owners Manual is 1 litre per 1500 miles max ( which is a lot!)
On the subject of the Owners Manual, that will tell you how to check the oil ( it needs to be up to temperature and on level ground) and how much to add per "block" below the top. Again from memory I think it is a half litre per block. If yours is coming up with a message it may well be off the bottom of the scale. So add a half at a time and recheck. Don't overfill!!
I would have thought the dealer/garage you bought from should have checked the oil level as part of a PDI so it is a bit odd to get this.

Thank You TSCAPTAIN and LANCERLOT. I topped it up 1/2 litre on Friday and then 1/2 litre today (Saturday) as per instructions / handbook and all is now well. I checked the oil level whilst hot and stationary and I am at the top level now (below overfill) - it takes a little getting used to to not be able to do a quick dipstick check.

(It was a private purchase not from the dealer, hence it was not checked/refilled but they sellor did give me a 1 litre bottle of Mobile 1 for top-ups.... COSTCO sell 5 litres for £30 so that will now stay in the car for emergencies)

Thank you again.
