My PM is working ok.ORIGINAL: chrisH PM seems to be working inbound, maybe not outbound, as outbox is empty, so not much I can do.
Sold out first months limited customer supply allocation couldn't have been hard to do even in these austere times [:'(] In the meantime my OPC called only yesterday to see if I would like to borrow a 981 for a few days as my current car is about to turn 3 In December I know 12% discount off stock cars was the going rate and I can't see this situation improving any time soon for obvious reasons so it will be a very brave person who jumps in over the next 6 months with their hard earned money and not much discount on initial cars I am sure [&o]ORIGINAL: dpoynton There is a thread on here with numerous, in-depth, posts about the pros and cons of the 987 v 981 Cayman. But what we all want to know is which of you guys has bitten the financial bullet and actually ordered a new 981 Cayman? I just rang East London OPC and they have sold out their March allocation already. D
PM doesn't work for me anymore, signs me out when I try to send a msg. Can you send me a PM?ORIGINAL: dyllan i will check mine out but it hasnt arrived here !
Totally agree with you about the 987. The 981 is a now or never decision for me, leave it another year and the funding gap will get too much as will be retired by then. I think the 981 with its new chassis is going to be a step change in terms of design progress, it's not just about the looks for me. March will see some road tests published, lets see what they have to say. ChrisORIGINAL: Buddy Got mine a couple of weeks ago. I do think the 981 looks great and no doubt is much improved but the 987 is still a great car.
70k, that must be everything ticked, thats 991 Carrera money! Mine came out at 55k with all the options I want and most of what would be nice to have e.g. PCM. You have to way up the cost of keeping your car, it's depreciation, however small that is, the rising costs of replacing consumables, servicing and the prospect of no warranty after 10 yrs. If you are tempted to mod the car then you won't get your money back and the car will be worth less if sold as modded and / or tracked. Plus if it does go wrong it's more money at risk as it's not covered by any warranty or insurance. These are expensive cars not like modding a GTi, who would want to buy one? I can't see Porsche rushing out a 981 R for several years yet, so for me I'd rather have the benefit of the new design now than down the line even if that appears to be a more costly option. The gap gets worse the longer you wait, guys.[] Go to the launch and make your mind up then.ORIGINAL: gmcraib wait and see what other variants they release, eg TURBO?, R etc. also as said before let them iron out any teething troubles. Plus the cost is quite high, about £70k with options to try and get the same spec as the one I already have. then comes the de-preciation argument ie losing at least 5k just by driving it out of the showroom - maybe not if sold out. Me personally I have spent quite a bit of money on mine recently getting it painted etc and now the car is immaculate. Plus resale values have dropped so it makes me reluctant to part with it. I was also considering some mods, which is further spent and makes the car 'owe you' even more. So waiting is good, then decide on variant or even a nearly new so somebody else pays for the depreciation! It looks really good though, might get bashed for this here but I can see elements of the F430 and I love that car. Although for 70k you could just about go and get one of them instead.
exactly. very little of what you spend you get back as you say with weighing up etc.ORIGINAL: chrisH If you are tempted to mod the car then you won't get your money back
debatable if the car is well looked after and the right work is done.ORIGINAL: chrisH the car will be worth less if sold as modded and / or tracked
not far off, can live without the parking assist!ORIGINAL: chrisH 70k, that must be everything ticked, thats 991 Carrera money!
