dont think tony m would agree!!his 997TTcab in that colour scheme looks brilliant[:)]

I am still happy with my Brown 997 cab (with Brown roof) and in the two and a bit years I've had it, I have only had positive comments about the colour combination.

Maybe there are a few people that have given lip service and said 'What a good colour combination' when what they really thought was 'It looks crap' !

From a Porsche marketing point of view, they chose to launch the 997 Turbo cab with all of the publicity photos, booklets, posters showing a Brown car. At all of the major motor shows at the time, incuding Dubai, Brown was the colour for the car on show.

With respect to the Boxter in Macadamia, I think that the website depiction of the colour has made it look a bit too bright and gaudy. In reallity the brown is quite subtle and in my opinion 'classey'

I think I may be biased towards Brown ( not in the political sense) as back in 1964 I had my Vespa GS 160 resprayed in a milk Chocolate Brown with Beige highlights on the 'Bubbles' and front mudguard. In

1988 I bought aRover 3500 SDI in British Leyland Brown !!!

'Dare to be different', that's what I say.[:)]

Do you have something against brown as a colour Mr Davison, you've posted the same comment on at least two forums so far ? Have you actually seen a car for yourself in this colour ? Colour choice is a personal thing , so don't always make your decision based on press photos , often cars look completely different when on the road or surrounded by something other than a white studio canvas. I have seen a boxster in this colour and have to say it looks far better than the press photos do it justice. Black , Grey and Silver are common place for many cars , particularly Porsches. The brown colour allows to show off a good gloss paintwork whilst offering flip tones of a lighter shade which compliment the lines of the car. The colour may not be to everyones taste or preference but that's no reason to discredit it.

I love the colour combination - very classy indeed. I would order that no problem.

But then again I like to be different, as can be see with my 911 colour combo.

One thing that no one has mentioned is the wood veneer finish on the interior - now that is yugh!

Against brown as a colour .. hmmm no I guess not Berty .. also to be accurate I never actually commented on what aspect of those pictures I did not like, I think your assuming its the paint colour

To be honest the brown paint finish is probably ok and as you say under certain lighting would show very different lines to other more "normal" colours, Tony M makes a great comment about real life versus the pics

Can I perhaps "fix" your assumption(s) why I dont like the pics .. IMVHO the yellow ceramics dont mix well with the brown, never liked the Boxster side decal, the rim choice is not the best and the wooden interior looks a mess... The computer generated interior shot (middle left) makes it look "bland" and makes me wonder why its not a photo and whilst individually the interior colour on leather and carpet probably works with other combinations and finally I think all the brown together its just "too much". So overall I still stand by my own feeling that I consider those pictures don't do the Boxster justice and I'm not a fan myself and no I have not seen one in the flesh (to be honest has any one seen this exact car combination in the flesh ??) ... As shown in the thread here (and over on Boxa.net) others disagree with me and some agree and as you say (and I'm ok about) thats great as choice is a personal thing and we are all different

FWIW I didn't think posting same threads on two completely different forums was "unacceptable" [;)] I would guess that Boxa.net and PCGB forums have many different members

Look at it this way its probably the most talked about thread on both forums for a while .. so from a getting things moving thread I think it scores highly [:)] Good to get a bit of debate going instead of posts about failures and "buying guides" [;)]

So what do folks think of http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/personalisation/exclusive/boxster/boxster-carrarawhite/ [:D] [:D]

I think the actual car would look much better in the metal. [:D]

The Porsche Art Department currently seems to have a fascination with oversaturating the colours, and adding false highlights, on their photographs. As a result, none of the colours they show bear any resemblance to their actual shade in natural light.

Macadamia is actually much darker in normal lighting, and much nicer as a result. I would remove the fake wood though, which is not to my taste.. [;)]

Definitely looks better in the metal. A friend of mine bought virtually the same Boxtser S, just not the side decals and the 19" Carrera S alloys instead of those turbo lookalikes and when he told me it was Macadamie brown I thought 'Oh no!'

When I saw it I could see that it did really work. Would I have bought it? Well no, but was a lot better than I'd expected.

I would have to buy two one in brown and one in red as they look fab in red but i am bias lol. I think you would have to see the wooden finish in the flesh or in the wood, so to speak. The car looks really good both exterior and interior but then it is down to our individual taste. Wood (pardon the pun) I buy it YES I wood, wood and all.

Beleive I saw your car at the early Duxford meet this year - It looked really good in my eyes.[;)]

That looks like the colour that was on the sales brochure photo back in 2001 when I specced my car. I asked what it was but no-one at Porsche could tell me.
Pity, I quite fancied it - it looked really individual.
