is Leicster getting a OPC ?? theres been rumours for a couple of years and end of last year i thougt it got the go ahead,

anyone got any ideas? [:-]

Yes I can confirm that, it is the same people who own OPC Solihull who I have just bought my 997 C2S from and also have an excellent OPC reputation. The Principle of the new OPC Leicester lives in the same village as me and has a heritage in quality dealerships.

The Sales Manager at OPC Solihull is a colleague of mine (Mark Taylor) I am sure he would be happy to address any queries on the new site.

Not sure about actual month but will be open later this year.

would be nice if R8 were invited to the opening party [;)]
will also be nice not to have to drive to Nottingham anymore

[] Not by everyone.... they will never sell/rip me off for another car again.

Just search for my thread "should buying a porsche be this hard" to see how I was treated by Solihull and Mark [:'(]

There are/were two Mark's at the dealership, one tried hard to keep things going and the other ....well, did not...

I have read plenty of good comments about the dealership, but my experience is based over a 4 years of mishaps, lies and total lack of service....
As I drove the car away the salesman even apologised for how I had been treated...

IMHO

garyw

But sure, I'd go and drink Leicesters coffee[;)]

Sorry to hear that garyw. I have bought my last five BMW's from Mark Taylor now General Sales Manager at OPC Solihull and he has always been excellent.

My first experience with an OPC though and so far so good...

The Leicester OPC will open in Sept. I am due to have a meeting with the DP in Aug and I will let you all know how I get on.It is some time since we had two dealers in the Region ( Rodger Clark and John Lamb) and it can lead to problems if not handled correctly, trust me I know because I was around at the time. I will not take sides in a dispute but if you are unhappy with your treatment let me know and I will pass on your concerns be it Leicester or Nottingham. The perfect dealership does not exist so if your are happy with your dealer dont change just to save driving time ( I thought driving the car is the reason for having it)

Patrick, no need to pass on any of my comments to anyone- I told them myself, all sorted and finished by spending my money elsewhere.
I'm lucky as I currently have 3 dealers all within 30 minutes driving, I will soon have 4 available.. good news all round.

Certainly seems to be a large concentration of them centrally...[&:].
I look forward to seeing what they can offer...

better selection of biscuits/sweets.... [8D]

You should all come to OPC Sheffield on either a saturday or a Sunday seen as i work there, and we have lots of biscuits and leave the sky remote out so you can watch whatever you want. You wouldn't belive the amount of people wo come in just for a sit down and a cup of tea. Anyway all the sales staff are really good there, infact they are the only OPC i can think of where they have actually batted an eyelid when i have walked in.

I only ever use the OPC parts department at the moment so less of an issue for me. One of the guys at Nottingham is great (a young-ish guy, I think his names Ben) and seems to be interested in the older cars as much as the new ones, plus never fails to keep me up to date with order progress and things so I dont waste a trip.

Im definitely going to try out Leic OPC as its 5mins up the road from me and makes a lot more sense than rushing out of work and battling the M1 to try and get to either Silverstone or Nottingham before they shut. Having said that I dont suffer fools gladly, so the first time they let me down or fail to treat me like a valued customer I'll be back to doing a 60mile round trip for my parts

Ben

I believe it is Richard yes, I don't know him personally (yet) but when I picked my new car up Mark Taylor at OPC Solihull mention he lives where I do (Radcliffe on Trent).

Good for me as I can then choose from either Nottm or Leicester OPC both within 15 miles of me []

Yes rush hour traffic does take the joy out of motoring. I am lucky using the back roads to Leicester or Nottingham I avoid the congestion. Are you coming with us to Maxey?

its a no Im afraid, were busy that weekend.. my mrs organises non car or boat related activities behind my back so I cant say no [:D]

The Leicester OPC should open 15th September all being well and is near the Vauxhall dealer Thurmaston Lane ? (so I am told).

The dealer principle will be Rochard Grout ex Sytner BMW and the Sales Manager will be Alan Dennis currently at Silverstone OPC...apparently both of these chaps live in the same village as me which could prove useful in one of the local boozers [;)]

Ah, wonder if that's why somebody else was sat in Alan's seat when I went in on Monday[;)]
I took over from Richard in '96 at Jag Notts when he went off to higher things with Inchcrap. Very switched on re customer needs and very straight talking. Taught me a lot about the specialist car business as I had come from volume sales.
I was at Audi Derby - first solus Audi in UK - when Alan was at Porsche Notts early 90's.
Alan has been with Porsche ages. Remembers selling 924 944 and again very switched into customers and the marque.
IMHO I think they will both work very well with the Nick Whale group as maybe a bit less corporate than who they are with now but just as professional. My opinion only.
DLAU - you'll be buying the drinks[;)]

Cheers
Dave
