OPC Leicester ?

im a bit disappointed; when I heard there was going to be a leicester OPC earlier in the year I thought it would be a big glossy place next to the Bentley dealership (not that its any closer to me, just make it quite a funky corner of town for cars [:D] )

still will be nice to have one closer to home and looking forward to seeing it..

Its nearly built (from the outside anyway) should be open on time, looks bigger than Nottingham a much bigger plot..

Well living in Derby i still tend to use Sutton Coldfield OPC. In actual time it doesn't take many more minutes than getting to Notts to be honest plus I've always had good service there and I will be moving to Burton very soon so probably stil lthe best option for me.

Having said all that I may be changing my job very soon which will take me to Leicester so may end up using them when they open.

[:D]

Nottingham could do with more parking, have visited there acouple of times mid week and really struggled to find a parking space

know what you mean, its always packed, whatever time I get there... Drove past the Leicester OPC 2 weekends ago on my way back from peterborough, and it looks very impressive.. same corporate design but looks like a nice big plot and couldnt see much else was going on around their corner of the roundabout so should be a fairly private area for them too which is nice; always think OPC nottingham is a bit crammed in between the pub and the golf shop which compared to OPC silverstone cheapens it a bit IMHO.. (obviously the hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of german hardware stop it actually looking cheap!)

Hey everyone,

I met up with Richard the new GM for Leicester on monday and tuesday on a driving course at Millbrook prooving ground. He seems a great bloke and very down to earth. He should be good at the job. I think i remember it was around the 17th that he was expecting it to open. He also seemed to be interested in having an open evening for us when they have settled down!

Andy

The Leicester Centre is not opening on the 17th! The earliest possible date is the 22nd. I have had several contacts with the people involved in the Centre and as soon as a defineate date is known I will be told and you will be informed on this site. The official opening will not be until Oct at the earliest and again as soon as I have a date you will be informed. RO. As for a function for regional members that will not be for some while.

Have spoken to the new DP today Friday14th and the date is now 25th earliest but this could change . I will be going to see him on 19th so will give you further update then.

The OPC will be open for serious bussiness only from the 24th. The site is far from finished so if you are going just to look around please wait 2-3 weeks and give the guys chance to get things sorted.

The official opening will be on 21st of Nov this will be by invite only and the invites will come from Porsche UK, not the Dealer or me or the Club.

There will be an open event especially for the regional members of the club and this will be when weverything is up and running. This will be decide by the DP and myself and you will be given plenty of warning.

This was the first time I have met some of the guys, some I already know, and they seem a great team and I wish them all the best and look forward to working with them

Great I can have a gander at their shiny new cars before continuing on my way to GCR, a decent independant in South Wigston....[;)][:D]

You should all come to OPC Sheffield on either a saturday or a Sunday seen as i work there, and we have lots of biscuits and leave the sky remote out so you can watch whatever you want. You wouldn't belive the amount of people wo come in just for a sit down and a cup of tea. Anyway all the sales staff are really good there, infact they are the only OPC i can think of where they have actually batted an eyelid when i have walked in.

I agree! Best OPC I have come across[:D][:D] Bought my 997C2S off them 2 years ago and they serviced my Boxster S. Complete opposite to sister business in Leeds eh!

well, thought Id give them a go, so placed my order for some bits from OPC leicester last week.. guy was reasonably helpful; phoned back a couple of hours later to tell me he had found the numbers for the parts I had asked for, and so I placed an order. Thought it was strange not to be able to do it all in one go, but its a new OPC so these things take time.

Went to collect sat morning, and its a very nice looking showroom with some nice cars including a carrera gt!.. As a site its a bit un-finished, but once its matured a bit it will be much nicer than nottingham with a big carpark, and a quiet access road

Opened my bag of bits last night to finally do some work on the car, and the towing eye (the very bit I need urgently) was missing.. []

Phoned them 9am today, expecting an "oh we have a towing eye for you here". The chap I spoke to said "leave it with me, Ill chase it up and call you back before lunch time"

So, 3 oclock comes around and no response. I gave them a call, and apparently they wont be able to find whether my towing eye is in or still on order, or, order me another one until friday at the earliest, as their only parts/service guy is out all week?!..

Im not bothered if they forgot to give it to me, or if its not been ordered or whatever, but its a bit s**t that I have to wait a week before I can find out.. Also, I hate people not calling back when they said they would. Ive been up there, so I know its like the marie celeste right now; what the hell else have they got to do thats more important than a 2min phone call [:D]

Im just having a rant really so dont take too much notice of me; im sure they will get sorted once they find their feet. personally Ill be sticking with silverstone/nottingham for a couple more months at least, until leicester sort themselves out though; I just got off the phone with OPC Silverstone who are getting me one in for thurs morning plus I might get a coffee while Im waiting..

Ben - welcome to the world of OPC's!

I'm sure I have a spare towing eye you could have....

OPC must be well and truly open as they've walked around every business in leicester centre dropping off hundreds of brochures and business cards on the way....

ha!.. thats probably why there wasnt anyone there to help me out [:D]

I ordered one from silverstone as Im going down to oxford thurs night, was only about 12 quid.. I want to leave it in as people keep rubbing the rear corner of my car; Im thinking a chunk of metal painted red might put them off..

Thanks for the offer Jason, I already paid for it over the phone though.. should have asked first I guess; another lesson learned!..

Dropped by Leicester's service department yesterday after giving them a buzz first, had problem with the lights on our 90 C4,what a nice bunch, they sorted it with a smile, very impressed with them indeed[:)]
