Opinions please

I have no issues with a car being high mileage as long as they are serviced properly. My own always end up doing high mileage. My concern with a high mileage 'newish' Porsche is that the Porsche service intervals of 2 years (or 20,000 miles) are too long so any issues have little opportunity to be picked up. High mileage cars often mean they have been bought on lease style finance and the car is little more than a commodity to show off rather than be enthusiastic about. The mentality is to buy the car new so that they won't have any maintenance bills other than tyres i.e. cheap Porsche ownership. By the time the car sees only its second service at 4 years, having covered close on 40,000 miles in all weather, it's likely to need quite a few more things attending to than just the Porsche service menu. It's at this point that the leaser that just wanted to own a Porsche for a while, dumps it rather than pay for the extra work. I'll bet in the case of this one, the second Porsche service at 32,000 miles highlighted the need for the brakes which the owner at the time declined to have done. It also looks like they declined Spark plugs at the time. Therefore Dove House have had to do brakes, fluid and plugs to bring it up to date.

Thanks all, if it's still available in a couple of weeks when I'm off I may take a look. Never actually sat or driven one yet so must resist the urge to b the first I see unless it's obviously amazing. Anyone in SE London want to show me theres?

Pete as you have not returned to the thread since you were popping up to see that Cayman, have you bought one yet? If not and still not driven one go along to any dealer who has one and ask for a test drive, best to try two or three and choose based on what you like or even dislike about them.

Bought it! Tried others, all felt equally solid. This one had the PASM which the others had not and the major service from Dovehouse swung it. Shouldn't need touching until the next service, I'll be doing low milage.

Welcome to becoming a Caymanite! As I say to many members, it is a good idea to add a signature to your post stating Region and approximate location so that when asking for advise on where to go for parts or work which specialists to use etc people can then give useful local recommendations or to be used to organise social meet ups etc.

So, no signature added even though I've filled in the box on my profile admin page. Have to say, this website is a bit clunky to use

Hi,

I assume you entered text into the My Profile/Forum details/Signature and pressed 'Save' in the right hand top of 'Forum details'?

Clunky indeed. Signatures do not get attached when you use "Quick Reply".

In order for your signature box to be displayed you must click "Open Full Version", every time!

Oddities do happen on the forum, the only signature I'm not seeing is that of Andrew ( Dark Matter ) and so it probably needs to be edited and saved as Ralph said, occasionally things take a short time to take effect, I even logged on recently and came up as Guest on a posting! Any problems give it another try and get in touch with George Woodward at the HQ, he is the guy who sorts out media problems and is very responsive.

If you prefer to PM me then that is ok and if there is a common problem it can be investigated, this is what happened when the GT4's were not found to be listed in the register a few months ago although they were appearing on the forum, I contacted some owners and George found some listed int he registers under wrong models, it was of course caused by an error in the search information and soon corrected, we now have more than 30 listed and a similar number of GTS.

That is incorrect if my signature is at the foot of this post.
Ralph,

It was my conclusion (possibly incorrect) from previous discussions about signatures that long standing forum members always get their signature displayed but following a forum software update newer forum members have to use 'Open Full Version' and tick 'Attach my signature' for every post if they want their signature displayed. Often I don't bother to 'Open Full Version' which may explain why Kevan doesn't see my signature (which I will attach this time).

Andrew.

Good one Andrew, I'll pass this onto George and ask him to look into it as when some have one version and new members another it is very difficult to advise on a problem such as this.
