It would be the Lodge car for me. Slightly better spec, and I would prefer 18" whells on a car without PASM. Park assist is nice to have too, as well as the sports steering wheel. The Lawson Brook advert is poor by comparison, as it tells you very little. I don't know either dealer, but Lodge present themselves better IMO. Just my 2p's worth.

I agree with Richard about the Lodge advert being better presented. If its practical for you to view both, and I recall you are not in the south, I would go and see what they are like in the flesh and drive them both. Dealers can often give a great impression on the phone but when you go see them that is the real test. I recall going to see a Cayman and the dealer wouldn't take me out in it unless I agreed a deal first.

Hi all well I have decided I am not going with the black 2.7 Ive had my head turned and going with my real want which is a Silver cayman.

I am paying a deposit on one of the two cars listed below, Ive been in touch with both dealers who have both bent over backwards to assure and satisfy me.

All I want is your opnion which one would you buy, dont worry if you prefer pink black yellow I am buying one of these. Please give me your opinion which one and why, your cayman owners and I respect your opinions.

Dont worry about advising me I do have my own mind just know you guys are going to make it so much easier for me. [;)]

The Lodge car has the better spec, do they give a warranty? As the Laytonbrook car is said to have one but how long and how good? North Yorks or Hampshire. If driving to see them would it be feasible to see the closest first then if unsure of that one travel on to the other?

Hi Both cars look good, adverts can be misleading as well. Walk into the dealer and you will get a gut instinct, if it feels right it probably is don't let your heart rule your head either way. Go with your gut instinct, learnt that years ago. If its down to the 19" wheels they are no problem on my Cayman S without PSM Quality of warranty might sway it. Enjoy

Warranty Lodge are offering 12 months mot, 3 months warranty & 12 months tax, only thing bugging me is rear tyres, not a lot of tread on one of them they say if it fails they will replace it but that will leave me with replacing the other side too and if it does not fail it will cost me very soon after driving it away. Lawson Brooke are offering 3 months warranty it was 6 all singing dancing but to get down to the lodge price they said 3 months standard, more tread on all 4 tyres 5-6 mils, 12 nonths mot so the diffrence money wise is £20 Lawson brooke after px I pay £14200 Lodge after px I pay £14450 but 12 months tax on it 20 squid cheaper.

I am in Carlisle pretty much north [;)] If I travel to see the one in thenorth I will fall in love with it :) I drive a 1.2 corsa it will feel imense how do i measure it.....oh the decisions. If I leave a deposit on one it will be under the understanding I walk if its not as decribed, wont let them tax it if I go for the hampshire based car until after I say yes.. Deposit what will either dealer want and walking away is that an option if so whats the point of the deposit as id want it back?

Lawton brook car for me. It's only 100 miles down the A66 for you; you could be there in time for morning coffee if you get your skates on. No need to buy new tyres, close enough to go back to in the event of any problems. Go and see it, if you like it and everything stacks up, go for it. Have you though about putting a cheeky post in the Yorkshire region? A club member may be right next door to it and could give you an opinion on the car? Same for the Berkshire one I suppose!

If you have the time this weekend, I'd be inclined to have a look at both cars Rob. I take it that you've not driven a Cayman before, so it'll be a good opportunity to sample a couple of vehicles before making a decision. You're parting with a fair bit of cash, so don't be too hasty in your decision - I doubt that people are forming a queue to purchase either car and there will always be another one round the corner. Rob K's suggestion is good - unfortunately, I'm not close to either dealer otherwise I'd offer to pop in and have a look for you. Good luck anyway. Jeff

I certainly echo Motorhead's comment that if, as it seems, you haven't driven a Cayman before you must drive one locally as well as these cars you have in view. It would be daft, IMO to part with 18k on a car you have not experienced at all before, there are so many things to get used to. How do you even know you will like driving and owning such a sporty car? Have you got an insurance quote yet? Forums are bound to be biased by the user base, we are all Cayman fans, do you know you are one too?

As Chris says, we all know that we're Cayman fans but if you haven't tried one yet why not nip along to your nearest dealer and all the better if it's not a colour you're interested or you can say "I didn't buy that one because"... It will provide you with a first feel of the model. Doesn't Carlisle have an Official Porsche Centre ( OPC ) if not then there is one in Kendal.[;)]

Hi. Just out of interest have you seen the Silver Cayman 2.7 at 911 Virgin it only has 16k miles on the clock and for sale at £18,495. Just maybe another to consider. Cliff.

Sorry to muddy the waters, but have you looked at the Porsche dealer stock? They have this one in Swindon http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/uk/clients.show_car?sid_=45413519B587SRJCXD8RR4VU4WCALDZ&pnr_=1&lnr_=3&caller_= Bear in mind it includes 2 year Porsche warranty and recovery which costs about £1,500 if bought later. I am sure Porsche can get it to your nearest dealer if you are serious.

Cliff, I'm sure there are loads around but he has never driven one. The point i am making is should this forum, being for Cayman fans and mainly PCGB members, be offering advice to new comers who are non PCGB members and are not familiar with the marque? He said he drives a Corsa at the moment that's what alerted me to making this point. For all we know he may never have even seen one in the flesh.

Chris, I'm sure he's seen one. They aren't that rare! As for giving advise, why not? He has to understand that advise given to be taken at his own discretion as we all have our own likes/dislikes and preferences.[;)][8|] I for one do not mind helping newbies, they may be future members.[:D]

Spot on Buddy [;)] As he was looking at Silver 2.7 Caymans around 18 /19k the low miler at just 16k on the clock might be another option.

Cliff, yes that's what we are all doing, trying to help, including myself. It just occurred to me that other than comparing specs, perhaps he has very little knowledge of Porsches unlike yoursellves.

Hi all thanks for the input, I have been round the block a little and will tell you a bit about my driving experience. Had a drive in a Boxster a friends only 2 weeks ago Id say handleing would be pretty similer, Im 48 years of age and ins fully comp will be £480. Been to Porsche Kendal and snuck a good luck at specs etc unfortunatly they did not have a 2.7, The cayman sitting at 911virgin is a nice one low miles but the deal on px on my car lousey and its an 06 ok low miles but a whole year older. Dont like the alloys either. Things can get a little emotional especially on forums and although imnew to Porche im not new to driving, for you guys Porsche is obviously in your blood you love em and hey why not, I dont mind saying itsthe experience im after your a long time dead, Looking at it another way I bought a Corsa for £6600 had it 18 months and its worth probably £5500 Private Ive lost £1100 if im lucky, £18k on a Porche well maintained maybe loose 3k in 18 months, I am sure there will be lots of you thinking Id loose more but im not far out, I need a car so It isnt really spending 18k is it after all I can always sell it. Ive decided it would be the one with 18inch alloys id go for, willItell them Monday. Oh and heres the deal I email them and say yep im coming down but if im not happy I walk away with my deposit, im obviously not doing 620 mile trip for a laugh so they will take me serious. If its 100% right I will buy it after a test drive also, if its not right ive wasted a days holiday and a lot of fuel and time. They will agree to that as its always a buyers market, just need it in writing hence email before I go. Cheers guys

Read your comments Chris and im afraid they dont really come across as helping, but you are entitled to your opinion. Yeah ive driven a Porsche and a Z4 and a few 1000cc bikes in my time, been round the Nurburg ring a few times as well, I was CP driver when I was 25 and did that for 6 years. Think if I can pass the police advance driving test in Liverpoll at age I might be ok behind the wheel No never owned a Cyman or driven one much diffrent from riding a Bike? Z4 Armoured granada scorpio 2.8 on blue lights. I asked a question about which car members thought was the best one asuming price costs are equal,

Rob, My comments were not directed at you, without knowing anything about your background I was actually trying to be constructive, so please don't take it personally. Hope it all works out for you. Chris
