Optimum 3.2 Fuch's wheel sizes?

Guys I'm still struggling

Do you know which of the wheels I previously listed are the correct off- sets????? the web site I mentioned (design911) has two offsets for the front on 7J's and two off-sets for the back on 9J's.....do you know which are correct????

Also are 9J's on the back too wide on a standard 3.2 rather than a super sport/ turbo bodied? I'm assuming 9 refers to the width in inches i.e this wheel will take a 225 wide tyre? any idea if i'll need spacers to fit them??

Guys I've managed to cut down the size of the files so you can take a look for yourselves. I've only managed to get you half the car, but it gives you an idea. Thought I might get all the pics on one post hence just the front! I'll have to post afew more messages to show you the lot. Check them out...see what you think????

Cheers rob

Size wise - ask the supplier & if they can't help ask Jasmine. Don't give yourself all the head stress.

Visually - IMO the Cup II's are the most suited.

Its the ones with the small ET number. A 7x16 Fuchs is ET23 and a 9x16 Fuchs is an ET15. The ET is the offset.

The supplier will also know and should be asked to confirm so you have some recourse against them if they supply the wrong wheel.

A 225 will work on a 9 but a 245 or 255 is a better fit. You have to buy new tyres for the 17s so why use a tyre that is too narrow for the wheel? With a little work and careful planning, you can fit up to a 275 in the rear. A 9 will fit a narrow body just fine - the SS and Turbos used large spacers to push the wheels out. It is the fronts that are more trouble with many people having to add a touch of negative camber or to roll the arches to fit without rubbing. All these cars are slightly different so YMMV.

I don't like the Cup 3s - they just look all wrong on this vintage of car. Cup Is look too heavy with the thick spokes, so Cup IIs are left by a process of elimination - they are the most simple and elegant of the Cup designs. But that is just my opinion. I saw Cup IIs on a 964 yesterday with the centres painted midnight blue to match the body colour. Not a bad option on a dark coloured car.

The Fuch was an all time classic design and, IMO, the 3.2 looks its best by far with the original wheels. I mean, you wouldn't buy a 2.7RS and put 17" Cups on it would you.

I suppose, if someone really wanted 17" wheels, they could colour code the centres to tone down the contrast.

Agree with Mike (Oliver) entirely. However, I saw a nice looking guards red 3.2 on Saturday, with Cup 2's - looked pretty good.

For the ultimate in Fuchs (imho) look at this link to a pelican thread

Look in it for Lindsey and especially pictures from Jack Olsen. If I had a dark car thats the finish I would have!

Lindsey take fuchs centers and weld bigger rims on them. You want 17" x 11" with a particular offset. You got it! Hate to think how much though!

Cheers
