Option Codes

As Simon says, those are build codes, like interior colours or carpet

Post the VIN and I will see what Porsche list for it

Yeah, would be interested to see how it compares with what we think is the earliest 944 in the UK. Private email would be fine if you don't want to post it here. [:)]

Could the free PCGB authentication service perhaps help? My certificate came back very quickly and listed all the options, although not the codes for them, so you could perhaps then use a process of elimination..

Possibly, although the CofA service is also available to non-members if they want to pay it's not 100% accurate, so could be even more confusing.

Also, there just isn't accurate info on the other very early car available from Reading, and he's had conflicting answers. That's why I'd be interested to see the chassis number to compare them.

..or they could always join the Club of course...
IMHO it's worth it just for the CofA and the valuation service (my insurer Aviva accepted the considerably uprated PCGB value assessment at no extra cost to me).
Here endeth the advert..

My car has the codes C16 and N48. I came across the information somewhere in the dim and distant past, but i don't know where, that these refer to "UK LUX spec, tinted windows" etc and "partial leather front seats."

Sorry for the delay chaps.

My guy in Stuttgart came though and, as a helpful chap above said they're build codes for a specific interior trim combo. The strange thing about it is they're 1981 911 codes apparently. He's doing some more digging, I'll update when he gets back to me.

Right, I'm off to Denmark to look at a car, better dash!

If you Google "Porsche option codes" youll get a plethora of sources.

Remember though that virtually everything has been copied and pasted - being present on a Porsche or 944 themed website doesn't make it the work of Porsche scholars! If you look at enough youll see the inconsistencies and also that some numbers have been repeatedly re-used, so you need to find their period application.

Don't get too hung up on ones you cant find either. It happens here sometimes but its a very Rennlist thing to do. The fools seem to be convinced that it has an ejector seat or something but in reality they are build codes and only Porsche know what part of the production process they refer to.

Hi Simon, used the Clarks Garage site all codes relating to year matched up and no ejector seat dam[:D] however I did discover that even in 1991 Porsche like to charge extra for everything as an option !! i.e options like electric passenger adjustable seat stereo upgrade (which is long gone) etc Thanks again Jon
