Ordered my Miami Blue 718 Cayman

Looking forward to seeing the photos John.

I'm having the demo 718 Cayman S PDK for a weekend on the 5th November. I am counting the days for my new 718 CS PDK delivery in mid December.

The fact that you got your car earlier than predicted is good to hear.

Brian

That is great news. I really hope you enjoy the car. My Cayman is due to leave Germany around 15th November, just hope I get the same nice surprise as you. It's been a long wait and excitement is starting to over take over everything. Happy driving.

Diane

Hi Brian, that from Aberdeen? Hmm, must be favoured over me then I was told I could only have it for an hour or so (with a 6 hour round trip)!

Not going to order until I've tested properly but no rush so maybe next year when the dust has settled ;)

If I do, then Miami Blue is the colour for me.

I'll post my initial impressions of the 718 CS PDK test drive next week.

Yes, Aberdeen OPC agreed to the weekender. I probably live much closer to Aberdeen than you Colin, plus maybe my persuasiveness and natural charm helped!

Brian

Hi All,

Just ordered a very similar spec apart from PDK, waiting for a overnight test of car with 20's before deciding if I need PASM also my OPC should have in a Miami Blue car by then so I can compare against my other colour choice of Lava Orange which they have in the showroom.

Really excited to be spec'ing 'my' own car as usually just gone for cars that were in stock etc when buying other marques, down side is the long wait, hoping to get the car before the spring / summer so I can make the most of it, what time scale do people think their running at currently, my dealer is a little non committal at present...

My new Graphite Blue 718 CS PDK is currently in production at the factory and scheduled for off-line on November 25th, with shipping to the UK on 2nd December.

OPC Aberdeen are looking at 16th to 23rd December for handover.

Brian

Hi Brian,

Out of interest when did you place the order? I'm hoping to get the car in March, just wondering how realistic this is, my OPC said it is 'reasonably likely' as there are more non 'S' slots available but I wondering if this was just sales BS just to get my £3k deposit...?

Cheers Jon

I placed the order and deposit for my 718 CS in June 2016. "S" slots were in short supply apparently. I was told Cayman slots only available at first, then a few "S" builds came later.

I was given the lock-down on my order in early October.

Just make sure you get your Cayman in March. New punitive DVLA VED tax bands are effective from 1st April 2017.

Brian

Hi I ordered my PDK in May, locked down early September and was informed today its 'on vessel' so could be at dealer early next week. I like Brian was expecting a December delivery; xmas has come early for me.

I think the dealers have limited allocations from what I've seen so the sooner you lock down the spec and pay a deposit then your have the peace of mind that your on the books for the next slot.

From past experience it's usually 3 months from lock down to delivery so I wouldn't think anything unusual in the waiting times everyone is writing about. I know one chap waited 6 months for his car (not a Cayman).

Regards Diane

Thanks Brian & Diane, paid my deposit last week & just waiting for the Miami Blue car to come in so I can see it in the metal, plus also have an overnight test arranged to check if I'm happy with 20's and no PASM (Having been use to sporty Audi's with very harsh ride I'm quietly confident it wont be a prob, the one with 19's I tested had a far better ride than my current Audi S3 on 18's), then I'm happy to lock down the spec.

I'm aware of the VED change which is why I've brought forward placing my order, just hope it's not too late...

Hi again Richard

I've finally received my invitation to the Porsche experience centre. I booked it for 12 noon> on the 7th of February. Did you manage to book your experience day in the end?

regards

Shane

Hi Shane,

I've got my invitation but I've not booked it yet. Have you been before? If not you'll have a fantastic time, I'm really looking forward to going again.

Richard.

Hey Richard,

I have been to the Porsche Experience Centre before yes. I'm also really looking forward to it, especially the kick plate section.

Regards

Shane.

Looking at the images of your car spec sheets I noticed "Passenger Footwell Storage Net - £0.00".

Porsche offering an option at ZERO cost? That's something I never thought I'd see!

Alan

Yes Alan, and in the 981-series the smoking package - which includes a neat cover over the ugly gaping hole in the centre console - was also free. I note that it's now a £36 option..!
