Trust all goes well next Friday, regret I won't be there for the first time in YEARS!!!!
Could somebody, or a few, do a report for me? Don't stress about punctuation/English etc., I'll knock it into shape -would be nice to combine a few reports, but obviously it needs to be 964RScentric! Some pictures would be good too!
Pls e-mail to me 964RSATPORSCHECLUBGB.COM
Many thanks!!!

What do you need a report for Mel?

Hi Melv,

It won't be the same without you! However, I'll try and drop you a line or two after the event. The forecast is decent, nothing special but mainly dry and not too cold.

I'm booked in at the Alvanley on Thursday night, is anyone else going to be there?

Ian.

I'll leave to the others to do the PP report but I can confirm it turned out to be a cracking day. I think there were a total of eleven 964 variants on track. Cup, RS and C2 were all represented. Grippy track, no red flags and great manners from all the drivers. At a guess I would say there were close on 150 Porsches in the paddock.

No time for pics but here's an edited video from my car:

p.s. You and your cup were missed Melv!

Hope all the cars left in the same number of parts they arrived in! From the photos appearing on Facebook, Mel's still on his world tour!

What a cracking event this is to kick off the year. [:)]

It's gotta be the best circuit in the country and with an almost total predominance of Porsche 911s (why there have to be any non Porsche cars on circuit I just don't understand), a packed paddock with well over 100 participants and spectators and some the best driving standards you'll find on a track day anywhere, everyone is guaranteed a good time. The circuit was in great shape and even the Welsh mist that started to threaten the afternoon didn't affect the grip levels too much. Click the link for my in-car footage: Oulton Park - 996 GT3RS

Great to catch up with lots of friends and acquaintances through the day and in the evening. The meal at the Chetwode Arms was a little more subdued than normal. Possibly because it was a little down on numbers? Or maybe because some of us had too good a time at the Fishponds Inn the previous evening. [;)]

Blimey Tim, that car has some get-up-and-go -power corrupts eh? Enjoyed that buddy!
N yes, still on tour -Sri Lanka at the mo.... [:)]

That's proper quick - about 2.5 seconds up on my lap record - in the race car.

Chris.
She was going well on the few laps where there wasn't too much traffic around, but I obviously wasn't timing. [:)]

I seem to remember best qualy laps at something just a second or two over 2 minutes when I did the Club Championship in my SC, so would expect to be similar to that on a track day in the quicker 996. I'll have to dig out one of the traffic-free laps to see what she managed. [;)]

Hey Mel

Good to hear from you, hope you're having a fab tour. Looking forward to some stories and pics when we catch up.

You missed a great season opener at OP. More 964s than I was expecting, but they have been well a truly replaced by the kettles since the glory days. The GT3RS was going well, although I'm sure she's down on power a bit as all sorts seem to be able to pull away from her on the straights [:-]. Anyway, it's the twisty bits that we all enjoy most isn't it? [;)]

Tim,
Thanks for the ride I'm the 3RS at the end of the day - thrilling stuff - I feel no shame at being passed at 3' 12" on the video - the car felt as fast from the inside as it looked as you went past me :)
Cheers,
Kevin

Nice video there Tim. I think the 996 turbo driver must have missed the bit in the briefing about lifting off when letting some one through [:D] ...unlike the gentleman in the white 964 that allows the perfect pass [;)]

Thanks for sharing those vids gents[:)] gutted I couldn;t make it. Hepefully try one up at Oulton later on in the year when i'm sorted.

Great video Tim !

I do like the sound of that GT3 engine , notice that not many people went past in that clip [;)]

The GT3 is clearly the weapon of choice for trackdays , much as the 964RS was about 12 years ago .

From your cabin the 964s look like mobile chicanes , the brightly coloured ones are obviously the best for spotting early .

Thanks John, definitely best experienced with the sound turned up! My son tells me the score on passes was 20-0 [;)]
