Paint Code

Where can I find the paint code on my 944S2? Is it on the VIN plate or elsewhere?

Thanks [;)]

Hi. There is a paper sticker in the boot under the boot carpet; it's the sticker everyone looks for to check the car hasn't had a rear end shunt. That will have your paint code listed on it. Just unclip the carpet as if you wanted to get at your spare wheel & you should see it on the rear panel. Not the best directions I'll admit.

Anyone know what option code 200 is? I have that option but it's not listed on the Clarks Garage option codes page. It might be an LSD - the car feels like it has one....

Hmmm....220 is usually the option code for the LSD. I've not seen a 200 before. I'll have a look in my Peter Morgan book this evening for you & see if it lists any 200 code.

I mis-read, it's a bit blurry after all this time. It's option code 288 (headlight washers). Thanks for your help and the link to that site.

Go by the code, not the name. What was called Guards Red in English was called Indischrot (Indian Rad) in German.

Yeah I did think it was 'Guards Red' but my confusion is in the code. The code for that year for so called 'Indian Red' was LM3A, whereas my my service book sticker quotes L3MA. I am pretty sure it is a typo but want to be absolutely sure.

I would agree it's a typo.

I'm a painter and my paint system has no trace of L3MA or 3MA

The chassis sticker won't be under the bonnet, it will be in the boot, under the carpet at the back between the lights. Have a look there to double check

Yes then one in the boot should always be a carbon copy of the one in the service booklet and it would appear that they are both wrong lol. Thanks for your help fella.

There should be a sticker in the manual or if you don't have it the same sticker should be in the boot behind the clip on carpet. The paint should be a mixture of letters and numbers i.e guards red is LM3A or was that L3MA??? You get the idea anyway. The paint codes do differ with year though so be careful where you look on the interweb.

Hi does anyone know where to find the paint code on a 944, just swapped my Capri for one and its kind of between gold and silver. Would be nice to know the actual name of the colour.

Cheers
Tim

Without a pic is hard to guess but am going to anyway and say it may well be Zermatt Silver.

it is as stated Zermat Silver ....
