Painting wheels black

They are 16' as are the all black wheels (993 cups) on my gold S2, a decent ride height makes all the difference.

They are 16's - I bought them I think. I think you're right about the effect of ride height

wow, they look a million times better than mine, and that car looks a good inch lower than mine. i think i'll lower it, then paint them back, then get some d90's!

Like many, I would pay for them to be refurbished/powdercoated.

You can get a great finish by painting them yourself (as said, the key is in the prepwork), but even according to a painting friend of mine powdercoating should result in a more resilient finish (My tyre fitter (and others local to me) does not hold himself liable for chipping the paint off painted wheels (even with care I have seen paint chip at his place).

Saying that, if your rims leak air from corrosion (although Porsche rims seem to OK there) refurbishing them will get rid of that issue too ;).

I rattle canned my Forester's wheels, they look great and the total cost came in at less then £60.

After a good clean and sand, a nice coat of Acid 8 primer

Followed by a 1000 wet and dry

Plastic dip is your answer.

Bit more then a can off paint but so Iv read easy 2 get a flat top coat. Plus it can be pealed off when u want 2 return.

I get my wheels Refurbed ( powered coated filled and striped £40 a wheel )

But I'm going 2 try some hand poilshing on my next set

think i'll try lowering first now i've seen that red one, all of a sudden they look great...soI know its a big ask but anyone in leeds area can help me with some koni adjustables please, on the front?, haven't a clue how you do it so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Muchos gracias

If you have the standard S2 struts then you can fit the springs from a standard 968 Clubsport (NOT the M030 option). From memory they are 20mm shorter than S2 springs and fit straight on.

Do they have the heigh adjustable spring perches as well or just te rebound adjustment though?

not sure, i've just got two plastic thingys that apparently i use to lower the shocks, do you know exactly what i'm talking about? I wish i did.

If they're round knurled knobs with a slot underneath then they go on the top and adjust the rebound rates.

To adjust height you'd have a c-spanner to unfasten the spring perch at the bottom of the shock. Easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom of the strut assembly where the spring sits - is it threaded or smooth?

Plasti-dip is a very easy way to paint your wheels matt black. No need to sand, and can be removed after if you change your mind. You don't even have to mask off the tires. It sounds tacky, but you will be astonished by how easy it is to put on and how good it looks. It is also easy to touch up, and you can't see the fix.
