Part throttle hesitation and cold start stall

Hi Jules

I admire your perserverance - you should advise OPC ! Has the problem cured the cold starting issue as well ? Did you replace all clips as well ? If so I will give my intake manifold a thorough inspection as well. It is interesting that a recent MOT showed high O2 (lamda) reading - this could be a symptom.

Yes its cured everything - the car is as it should be now!

I didnt replace any clips or anything - just cleaned them up and made sure they were tightened up correctly when I put it all back together.

Having seen how much the manifolds move around as the engine runs, its quite possible that this could be a common problem as the cars get older - these sleeves just eventually work loose?

Hi Jules,

I have not even seen my engine, I figured with a car like this I'd leave it to the experts. HOWEVER. When I bought the car it ran fine, no problems all tickety boo. I then had it serviced and quite a few other issues resolved (all 6 coil packs changed, some belt changed, brakes serviced) the guy at Hartech said there where no problems or warnings on the history. The whole thing cost was in the 4 figures region. Since then this problem has developed. Im wondering whether they might have need to take these hoses that you mention off to do something and they have either not put them on tight enough or they've perished slightly and moving them has caused a leak. Im not going to slate Hartech as they seem to be genuine enough people, but having not seen the layout of the engine is this possible?
