PCM sat nav updates on CD, not hard disc....?

thanks for everyone's help this week folks "you meet the nicest people in a porsche" err think that was a honda advert to it works here!

So to conclude,

If I'm running a 2006 Boxster S with a 3.2 PCM and a 2005 DVD is it worth updating.

My question is will I still be running through fields and across roundabouts when traveling up the A1.

My local OPC as quoted £303 + £50 + vat to purchase and install, however I get 15% off parts and labour (approx £352).

If you do not have the Traffic Messaging System (TMS) together with dynamic routing that this also gives then I would say yes to the update as your route with now take into consideration traffic jams and road works etc.

I have to say you may not be rid of running across fields and roundabouts on the A1 but I have not done a run on the A1 since the latest update.

TMC has been available on all European map updates since 2005. The map data stamp on the 2007 map was a date in 2006 , the new 2009 map DVD is a 2008 date stamp, so if the road hasn't changed or been created since 2008 you should be on the map !

Thanks for the info.

I do have Dynamic routing so I presume I have TMS, its more the road maps I was interested in

Cheers

Well I went ahead and had the update installed yesterday at OPC Leeds, took about 30 mins, they very kindly gave me 15% off parts and labour for been a PCGB member.

First impressions very good, the maps includes more details than I can remember on the 2005 system, It also took me home on a different route (better route) on the same settings.

Finally I also recieved a Porsche CD case that holds 28 CD's (don't know if its part of the update)

well pleased

Tommo
