I recognise the nutters, they are angry cos they couldn't get hold of a couple of Honda Fireblades (CBR900RR, CBR1000RR).

This numbers game is confusing!

Back on topic,.... the PCM can be updated DIY but you need three discs to do it. The first two ensure the PCM itself is at the correct software level to accept the newer navigation software and the third updates the navigation module itself. Then you also need a new map DVD or at least one that is 2005 vintage or later. If you have a 997 which also has BOSE you need to check the amplifier software level , as this may also require an update before the PCM can be updated. The discs to update are not available form Porsche as separate items but must be purchased as part of a new map update pack (all for about 350 pounds). Some dealers will then cheekilly ask for tech time to install the updates , but personally I think it should be included at that price. You can update it yourself , but be careful that you fully understand the procedure before you start. Get it wrong and the PCM becomes a paperweight , not even porsche will repair it , only charge you for an exchange unit.
