Peak District Drive Saturday 2nd June

Hi Ravi,

After a really good weekend in France (notwithstanding 2 pages missing from the road-book...) we are looking forward to Saturday. But it will be nearer 9 am than 8.30am! (0859am...)

Also, I suggest a 9am meet at the services at M1 J15a to allow for any late risers.....

Really looking forward to tomorrow's drive out with a sunny weather forecast

Lunch - We are booked in at the Pavillion Gardens restaurant at 1 pm. There is a selection of pannini's and starters for something lighter or an a la carte menu if you are really hungry!!

See you all at the service station at junction 15a M1 at around 9 am we'll probably aim to leave at 9.30.

A very BIG THANK YOU is called for to Ravi and Lindsey for organising a great days motoring across some spectacular scenery in the High Peak! Good to see old faces and some new ones too. Also it was good to have Ian and his good lady along for the "˜Cat and Fiddle Sprint' "" shame about the caravan"¦ Sorry we had to leave you at the top but trust you had a good run through Snake Pass "" a favourite of ours. Dave

I hope you guys had as much fun as we did, sooo lucky with the weather- I managed to get past most Caravans on the passes and ended up with a few clear runs.[8D][8D][8D]

Makes the Peaks seem like a small place after seeing you guys twice in one day [;)]
As you can imagine I have been mocked over our waving to each other, although they're only jealous deep down.

I booked up for the weekend trip ages ago with the guys I went with, but will keep my eyes peeled if you do another trip.... what a lovely place to be, shame that noose of police presence is hanging over everywhere you go..

Hi All

Thanks to everyone who came along on Saturday for making it a great day out...also thanks to the Sun God (or should that be Danny [;)]) for the glorious weather. Thanks also to Lindsey for checking out the route and finding some great stops.

Some good roads and great company made for a memorable event.

Even Junita (my better half), who suffers from serious travel sickness on anything windier than a motorway enjoyed the drive with the aid of only a couple of travel sickness pills.

Let's get the next one organised. If anyone has any ideas for our next day out please post them on the forum or speak up at the next meeting - Sue will have you volunteered in no time !

Gary - Glad you could join us even if it was only for about 3 seconds. Shame you were being held up by that long line of slow BMWs - hopefully you managed to get past them and find some clear road [:D].

I've got some snaps (mostly of the back of Andy's red 996) which I will post when I get some time. Anyone else take any pics they can circulate ?

A Muscovy Duck eh ?

Maybe that crystallised rock in Poole's Cavern was actually an enraged Muscovy Duck rather than a graceful swan........

Like the guide said, we don't know what those Victorians had been smoking !
 
Sue, we stayed at the Charle Cotton Hotel, just south of Buxton.
Looked after us very well and the food was very good, only concern is the narrow drive into the carpark...[:mad:]

I went to visit one of the Caves, but missed the last tour by 15 minutes[:'(]
Certainly worth another visit to the area...

What a day!!

Great fun had by all. I manged somehow to agree to write a piece on the day, so would love, comments, thoughts, good bits, bad bits, funnies, etc etc to help me along the way........
