Pet hates, other drivers.

What do you hate most about other road users?

I can't stand the simpletons that insist on having their foglights on all the time. They think they're hardcore racers and i wouldn't care but the car they're driving is usually rubbish.

AND BMW owners. ignorant, arrogant, rude, tossers.

Front fog lights never bother me, in fact when my 944 had them I used to use them when it was daylight but foggy/rainy/lots of spray instead of popping up the main lights. They were set not to dazzle and they always went off if it was dark enough to need the main lights popped up to see by.

It's rear foglights that p' me off, specifically the hoardes of people who can find the on switch at the first hint of mist but can't seem to find the off equivalent for a further 9 weeks. If it's dark, as it is at this time of the year virtually all the time most of us drive, then they are not necessary, ever; they are purely for very restricted visibility in the daylight when they don't just blind the car behind and mask brake lights. Even when they are necessary it's only common courtesy to turn them off when someone is close behind yet I can literally count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have seen them not only used at the appropriate time but also turned off and on when appropriate after overtaking etc.

Of course what do I know? I drive a BMW hence am an ignorant, arrogant, rude **** [:D]

Forgot about taxi drivers. I don't think there is anything worse on the road bar taxi drivers. Not the Hackney lads, the ones in Primeras, Mondeos and such. A totally vile bunch of **** ******* ******!!!!

OOOh I do like an opportunity for a good RANT!

<rant on>
1. I have started to notice this more and more, people straightlining roundabouts which generally results in you being cut up.
I do carry out this practice myself but not when there is anyone else behind me.

2. People not indicating to come off a motoway or those that dive to the slip road from the 3rd lane at the last moment.

3. Middle lane hogs.

4 .Hesitant drivers

5. People who use the child and baby parking slots to park their overly large cars - why not buy a smaller car in the first place.

6. I get really annoyed at those who like to park in the yellow hash box at traffic lights.

7. Speed cameras - why are they put in the most stupid places!!!

8. Speeding police cars - why are they allowed to travel on the motorway faster than me without their blues on!

9. People who have prestige cars who are too tight to have a hands free kit fitted.

10. Speed bumps - why not try and educate pedestrians too!! its not always the drivers fault.

11. Horse Riders who think they own the road - I have had a good friend killed and another, in another incident, who escaped with his life due to handlers being incompetant.

12. People who own expensive cars who complain how much it costs to service them or buy parts for them.

13. Road works. Does anyone actually do any work on them or do they spend their time putting out more cones or just re arranging them.

14. People who are too lazy to walk and insist in parking their car as close as they can to the cash point, shop, video shop, take away, off license etc.

15. Buses - I think these vehicals speed in 30/40 zones more often than any other.

16. Mopeds with exhausts removed. get a license and buy a 250cc.

17. Blacked out windows - windows are there to look out of so you can see other people around you.

18. Poor sounding audio systems - if you are going to play it loud at least play it so I can hear music and not distortion.

19. I really hate those fellow motor way motorists who believe the space between you and the car in front is big enough for them to pull in between then get funny because they think you are driving too close - well you chose to go there!

20. Red light jumpers -just plain stupid. (I hold my hands up here I got 3 points in London for this)

<Rant off >
Do you think I have a problem and should seek some advise?

I would have to go for Taxi drivers with no idea of road rules and I agree...what is it with BMW drivers?[:'(]

no, am not a fully paid up member of the political correctness brigade by any stretch of the imagination but I don't view this forum as an appropriate venue for racism. I appreciate that moderators have an unenviable task for no reward but think I'd prefer to see that sort of comment deleted.

Not only that but we have a FEMALE taxi driver in my locality.[8D]

I hate the lazy people to be polite who still have pay and display stickers on there windows, and you can see them looking around them as they drive.

I think fog lights on cars look good but I wish the drivers adjusted them so they don't dazzle oncoming drivers (which would probably make them useless in fog!). I get much more annoyed by rear fog lights. People use them far too early before the visibility has deteriorated enough and they always forget to switch them off again! I will only use them if I there is no car behind me, as soon as a car catches up i'll switch them off.

It also really annoys me that a worryingly large amount of people either don't know how to use their indicators or are too lazy to do so - especially on roundabouts. I sometimes jump forward ever so slightly when cars are coming round rounabouts that are not indicating to try to give them a bit of a scare, but most are so oblivious to what's going on around them they fail to see me and carry on regardless. A bit naughty I know, and i'm not proud of myself!!

Also people who dawdle really really hack me off. They are either so involved in their own misguided rightous sense of 'safe driving' they are totally oblivious to the chaos they are causing behind them by bunching up all the traffic and raising everyones temper. And people who are right behind that refuse to overtake are just as bad. In that situation it is your duty to overtake when possible.

See your point Rob. I don't think it was meant in any way other than a joke, but as such in very poor taste. If my computer skills are any good it will have been removed.

What comment?

If I repeat it I'll have to moderate myself....[&:]

Seriously, it's not really that difficult to avoid being obviously racist, sexist or any other "ist". That's really not about being politically correct, but just polite! The comment involved stepped way over the "polite" line...

I know this forum is more active than the rest of the Club put together, but are you all being deliberately difficult? [:D][:D]

Have to ask what is the point/value of a thread like this ???

Principally? Entertainment I think Steve. [;)]

I have started to listed to Classic FM and find I become less frustrated than when I listen to ACDC. None the less, I still find myself going tut tut over:-

Poor lane discipline on dual carriageways/motorways
Inappropriate use of fog lights
Poor lane disciple on roundabouts
Inability to indicate correctly on roundabouts
People who only have one speed (most frequently 39 mph) which, as a result, is used in 30, 50 and 60 mph zones
Tailgaters
People who want to race me - more so if it is a luke warm hatch
People with a personal crusade to ensure no body exceeds the speed limit
People from other countries who seem to have no spacial awareness
Able bodied people using disabled parking bays
Ditto parking bays for cars with small children being used by people without
People with children loose inside the car
People with more passengers than seats - so their insurers are going to be more than helpful when they have an accident
Frequent lane changers in slow traffic
People who cross sold white lines
Caravans
Slow moving vehicles that don't pull over to let the stream of traffic behind have some chance of getting on with their lives

But above all, the ones I could drag from their cars and shoot on the side of the road are....

.....People who fail to give way to you at a roundabout and then give you the finger when you hoot them.[][][]

Well I feel much better for that. So in addition to being good entertainment this thread also provides some therapeutic advantages. Considerable value in that case. [:)]

Comments about racist remarks are probably referring to an earlier comment I posted on this thread ... it has been removed by a moderator, and apologies all 'round.

More than happy to debate this elsewhere, but I appreciate that the Mods decision is final and therefore agree to play by their rules on this site.
