Lovely colour, sounds like a great buy.

A bit curious about the exhaust outlet pipes... if the wheels and the rear badge suggest this is an S4, the twin pipe outlet was originally only found on the GT?

Ok thanks for this, I never knew that, what was the S4 tailpipe? Must google that. Don't know if the twin pipe was an option on other 928's? I find the car rides smoother than my S2, it also handles well but the S2 is more involving and a lot more fun.

I am quite certain that the twin pipe was not an option on the S4 that normally have a single outlet.

If I remember right the twin pipe was first found on the super rare S4 Club Sport, an 87&88 model, which specs were carried over on the '89 GT, but the 90&91 GT also have the twin pipe.

Do you have the on board computer or the early style gauge cluster (which should be pretty much the same as on your S2)?

Hi, I have an the six guage dash and trip computer which shows up in the bottom of the dash with square display in the middle and also displays on readouts either side of the square display, shows mileage, MPG, stop watch and outside temperature etc.

It's all controlled by a lever on the LHS of the steering column. Not sure if this answers your question?

Having had a look around, one article suggests the twin pipe was standard on 90-91 cars to simplify S4/GT production?

Yes this is the board computer, what year is your car?

Did not know about the twin pipe being standard on 90/91 cars, you learn something new every day!

My soon to be delivered 1991 S4 has the same twin pipes, for a second I thought I had got lucky and got a GT ! My car has the digital display which I don`t personally like, I bought a manual dashboard, but according to my mechanic it might not work as a replacement, any ideas ? If not it`s up for sale.

I forgot to say, another reason I don`t like my current digital dash is it talks in Japanese ( being originally a Japanese import car ) so can I reset it into English, anyone ?

Porsche missed so many opportunities in the 928 / 944 & 968 models due to a silly strategy of the 911 must be top of the model line-up

...and things are still much the same today.
