"Pig-pen this here's Rubberduck.."

I have not attended this show, but last year I attended the Porsche meet at Chatsworth house. After that experience I don't think I will ever attend another Porsche meet again. I am sure a meeting of just frontrunner owners will be a nicer place then Chatsworth. At Chatsworth you got ignored unless you had a 997 turbo and a plum in your mouth. The only part of the day that cheered me up was when a mate of mine turned up in his 912 fresh import from California. It needed some work as the paint was badly sun burnt and chrome was dull, after the 10th person came up to the car and scoffed at it my mate announced he was going to re-lacquer over the paint and leave it a rat look 912. These caused the 911 owners to spill the sherry and cough up the prawn sandwiches.

I find the fact that you have to be a member to attend the show a bit strange. I have been attending car shows/meets of lots of different manufactures for years and years. Wouldn't opening the show to all and charging a small fee be a better? This would then encourage people to join up rather the other way round, it all seems a bit secret hand shake.

Here we go, the old stereotypes again []. If you showed a little more interest in other peoples cars perhaps they will reciprocate. When people meet up with their friends it is inevitable they are going to want to talk to them. They aren't there to amuse you. However, if you make the effort to get to know people I have little doubt you will find them as accommodating as any other human being.

Frontrunners isn't a show. It is a Cornbury House (Club HQ) open day with the emphasis on the front engined water cooled cars. There is a tulip rally for those that have booked, Club shop, a cup of coffee and some interesting cars for those who like Front Runners. It is an opportunity for 944 owners to get together, kick some tyres and have a chat. It is what the people make it.

Please don't come on the Club forum and slag off members. The Club embraces many sorts of people. Some you might get on with, some you might not. Just because you didn't like some people at one event doesn't mean we are all the same. They might not have liked you.

John I agree with you over the stereotypes, I am the one defending most Porsche drivers. But this was a joke.

Frontrunners is a great informal event for us 'umble types and has been much better the last couple of years with the introduction of the Tulip rally/drive around which elevated it considerably from the "lets all park in a car park and then go home " event it was more akin to previously [;)]

As for convoys I do need to to divert somewhat when I get to Oxfordshire as I need to pick up my brother-in-law who is going to be navigator for the day, so whether its possible to convoy or better to just fly solo I dunno.

Hi Tom,

This certainly isn't a show that could be open to the public, that's what Blenheim Palce is for. We do events that suit all sorts of different needs, from Concourse to car-boot sale, dyno-day to track day, race series to local karting, picnic-in-the-park to speed-limit free Isle of Man rallies, tyre-kicking pub meets to stately home spectaculars.

I can't see how attending one event that didn't suit you would put you off attending any Porsche meeting ever again! I've never been so insulted as I was at one Porsche event, but I've also never had so much fun as at most of the others. One of the good things about having 15000 members is that everyone can find their own little niche without affecting the rest of us. [:)]

That's strange. Most of the people I know from the club would have been very enthusiastic at the find your friend had just bought. Some would love the patina of a genuine car, others might prefer a re-build and respray, but none would have been nasty about it!

One of the nicest 356's I have seen had matt paint and no bumpers. It looked fantastic! [8D]
